To be honest, you haven't given us a whole lot to go on. Knowing things like "How's the body" - is there much rust, has the car been seriously wrinkled, etc etc. What about the rear end? Any electrical issues? That kind of thing. The overall condition of the car is going to make a difference as to whether it's worth putting time/money/effort into.

For the record, I voted that you should LSx it - but then again, I COULD be just a little bit biased too...

If you feel like keeping it your should keep it. Is it the original motor still? If you feel it is a nice car to restore (which I think GTAs are deffinitly worth the investment into restoration) then you should restore it using an original 350. If you just like the car and want to add years of reliability and performance to an already great car, then LSX is a great way of doing that. My vote is LSX since I chose the latter =D

Body is in great shape, no real rust except for where there are a few little paint chips surface only thought. yeah its the original 350TPI. I have been trying to decide what to do with the car since it spun a rod bearing a 250,000 miles and has been sitting for 3 months now still runs but I wont drive it because I don't want to damage the engine further.

well yeah If it was the 3.8 Turbo It would not have 250,000 miles on it because I would have parked it the day it came home. and stayed in the garage and now be able to sell it for 50,000 today

I vote LSX it, if it is a decent 5-10 footer in the paint department. The late 80's GTA is my favorite of all the 3rd gen Firebirds. The 3rd gens that are worth pretty good money right now are low mileage, orginal paint, unrestored examples. I don't think you'd really devalue the car by swapping out the 350, since it already has 250k miles of wear and tear.

If you plan on keeping the car for good, then I'd restore it. Not as many GTA's on the road now.

Yeah I think I know better. I love that car for what it is. I think those are about the only import car that I can stand, maybe because those are the ones that can give you the hardest time. and still be reliable!
