Default 79 elco swap to 5.3 lm7

I'm in the middle of a 5.3 swap from a 2007 Silverado Classic(2006 parts) into my 79 elco and I have run into a couple of snags that I can't find any answers to!!

1) I'm running a walpro inline pump and I was wondering how to run a return line as the system from the 5.3 is a returnless system? Do I need a pressure regulator for non constant pressure at the return line?

2) I'm going to try to use the drive by wire from the truck but the pedal assembly is plastic and all I've read on the swaps is about metal ones and cutting and moving the pedal to the other side of bracket. How would I do this with the pedal that I have?

Any suggestion or advice would be helpful. I have pictures of the swap and will down load them soon.

Not sure about the pedal issue, but you should be able to use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and run a return line to the tank from that.

yeah use an adjustable regulator and return line, or just use a corvette Filter/Regulator and that works too. theres quite a few swaps like yours on this site including mine. your in the right place.

good luck.

Thanks for the input. I'm wondering what brand of regulator are you using or can you advise me on a dependable one?

cherry:I've been following your build since you started-your car looks great!!!

In higher horse applications I like to use the aeromotive regulators, now on a stocker build the vetter combo is sufficient.

thanks. the elco is down right now since it broke a drive shaft. ls1 was tomuch power for the crappy welds from the drive shaft place.
