Default starter wiring

I am wiring a '99 Miata with an LS1. Can I use the car's starter trigger wire from the ignition, or do I need to use the LS1 purple wire?

Also, if I can use the car's ignition wire to turn the starter, is there any reason to hook the LS1 (manual) clutch switch wire into the system, or can I again just rely on the car's clutch interlock?

On my '70 Impala with an LQ9, I have used the original wire from the Impala and it works fine: my harness was reworked by Speartech and they had labelled the purple wire from the engine harness "if needed".
I do not know about the clutch switch, I have an auto trans.

If you are using your stock wiring from the car it should all be functioning as it would stock, you will just need to use it as the trigger.
