Default Balancer Mix-Up

I've searched and googled and keep coming up with the same conflict. Some sites say that the GTO crank pulley/accessory drive is the same distance away from the block as the Corvette/CTS-V setup. 1 1/2 inches closer than my setup. Others say it is the same distance as F-Body Setup, which is 3/4 inch closer to the block than my truck setup. which is correct?

How necessary is the rear alternator bracket in the F-Boby setup?

I need the front alternator bracket from an F-body but I can't find it listed on the site where I buy my parts, but I can find the one from the 04 GTO. Could I use that one?
