Default Vert performance vs. hardtop

does the convertible version have any effect on 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc? Would it perform better with the top down, or up? Or is there no difference at all?

From what i have read the main difference is the weight of the convertible is more therefore slower than a hardtop with all things being equal. as for aerodynamics not sure. I would say top down less drag.

I'd have to say top down EXTRA drag. Think about it-with the top up you've got a relatively smooth shape with the wind to blow over. Once you drop the top, you've got this open space with a bunch of objects inside of it, mainly seats, console, interior pieces, that will catch air, help to swirl it around and more importantly create turbulence with the air around the car. Being the owner of a 'vert I speak from first-hand experience; at speeds the air inside the cabin is very violent and can only be hurting aerodynamics.

But, at the end of the day, 'verts aren't so much for conquering the dragstrip or roadcourse, they're really designed to help you win in another way: get laid...

Top up is faster and safer. But which one has more power, depends on the car. You have turds and shining stars in every catergory so it is hard to say.

Top down way more drag. Feels like a lose 30HP at highway speeds.

This is something that has been proven over and over again throughout history, it's like gravity. It's just a fact of life that women love verts.

I only race top down. It is the way real men should race!

From a dig in a 1/4 mile, I dont think having the top down is that bad until you are out of 3rd gear if your an A4

Don't get me wrong, I love the T-tops, but I'd definitely give up a bit of performance for a convertible drop top.

Girls LOVE verts, this is definitely true.

The C6 was actually originally designed as a Vert' BEFORE the coupe. It only weighs 26lbs more as a Vert' in C6 form (if you dont have the power top version--power top adds 15 lbs). It really is negligible performance wise. I'll lose 50lbs of my own weight and rather have the pus*y magnet convertible version.

Weight is the reason the verts are a little slower.

I think even having ttops off in a coupe = more drag! Maybe not to the same degree though. I love my ttops, and so does the girlfriend, but they'll never give that convertible feel imo.

Half truth right here. Ive never met a girl that DOESNT love my car, but 50% of them bitch about how windy it is. Long hair or not women like to bitch about it.

Lol, beat me to it, same thing here except my wife ALSO bitches about the turns, speeding, being too low...etc...

Sometimes I feel like I'm in that Bridgestone Tire "Mr & Mrs Potatohead" commercial!

If I'm as lucky as Mr. Potatohead her mouth will pop off and roll over the edge of the cliff.
