Default Sound Deadener

Has anyone installed any sound deadener into their convertible?

No, but if you don't have thick floor mats, like SLPs or the expensive ones like Lloyds, that will help...

What's so loud that you need soundproofing? Just curious if it is the exhaust (is it aftermarket??), engine noise, or even wind noise. Our 'stock' T/A is the quietest of the 3 verts we own.

I've been thinking that some sound deadener will kill some of the engine and road noise, especially when the top is up. The doors would benefit as well. The exhaust is a bit loud, but that's a good noise to hear.

If you have the original top with the headliner still intact that is about all you can do as far as noise unless the seals are bad around the edges and doors. Just part of the vert ownership experience. If you have a non-original top then that is probably the problem. I would think your exhaust (if on the loud side) would drown the other things out. Not sure what else to suggest.

I'm not worried about the sound coming through the top, it's still in great shape.

There's a few rattles in the doors that I haven't been able to eliminate, some sound deadener would take care of those. Same situation on the firewall/floor, looking to eliminate some noise.

Was just looking to see if anyone has installed it in convertible...

Just get the Ultra Plush Cut Pile with the Mass Backing options and there's a much quieter 4th Gen.

That's a good option, will have to look into it. Thanks for the link.

My cars a 99 and I don't have any door rattles, pull the panels off and go for a ride, should not be anything in there loose, IMHO.

I did the floor, trunk and doors with Edead from Elemental Designs 2 years ago. It is a noticeable improvement, but I wouldn't expect quiet like a luxury car. Expect several hours of work as well. I would do it again though
