Default Audio ?

Ok so i have a little sub in the back of my vert. Typically i dont drive around with the top down but when i do, i loose all bass reflex... naturally because the top block the space. I have an idea though, i would like to get some elongated tubing or maybe a fiberglass molded custom type thing, but i have no idea where to run it! has anyone done anything like this?

I had the same problem, simple solution really = Bass Tube, I used a JL audio sub to replace the one that came with it (cheap one in tube). You can move it around or simpley unplug it to take it out if needed.

Oh and it works great with the top down - point it towards the back of the front seats.

I just put 2 12" subs in the well and that took care of the problem. I can rattle the trunk apart if I want to.

I agree with burntclutches, a bass-tube is the way to go. I picked up an 8" bazooka bass-tube for $10 from the local classifieds, pulled the speaker and cut one inch of the length of the tube, and it now fits on the floor behind my seat. In the the rare event that there are 3 passengers, the tube comes off the floor and goes between the passengers in the back. I wrapped the tube with some tan vinyl and most people won't even realize it's there.

Hmmm. Well gents I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. I found a path past the spare tire that runs along the inside of the quarter that I might be able to exploit, if not then i will go the way you guys went.

Your going to want to have a bandpass box built for yourself. The port will be able to be aimed directly at the back seats letting the bass flow into the cab of the car and not be trapped in the trunk. This way you need no new equipment and it will hit so much harder and cleaner than any bass tube could dream of no matter what driver is in there.

Food for thought, I have some of these and plan to try them one day. In the HT world they make a product by Aura called "Bass shakers" they fit under your seat...wonder how they would sound under the vert seats????
