Default applique

Noticed the small triangular piece, behind the drivers side door glass ( called an applique) is starting to come loose. New one from GM is around $100. What holds the plastic piece to the rest of the weatherstrip part? Anyone have a fix? I was thinking that if I can get it removed, without breaking the part,I could use some 3M weatherstrip adhesive to reattach. Any ideas?

Both good ideas. Am I correct in thinking that they were just glued on originally and a slow/careful removal process should work?

Yes, you are correct.
I've removed mine for painting, no issues.

Removed and back on. I decided to go with the 3M tape, less of a chance of making a mess. Thanks guys.
