Default Question for you 93-02 Fbody Low mileage Vert owner

I know that there are many posts regarding the poor quality of the sun visors on the 93-02 Fbody cars and the issue with the cardboard deteriorating. My question is that I know that verts see more sun on the sun visors than hard top and t-top cars since the top is down even for those low mileage garage kept cars. Is there anybody that can say theirs is mint like new condition? Just curious, my 98 with less than 30K miles that has been garage kept sun visors are an eye sore even though they fabric is not faded and there are no tears or wear....just the cardboard has broken down. thanks.

My wife's 48k 2001 SS convertible has saggy visors, while the visors in my 70k 2001 T-Top SS are just fine.

Without a doubt, parking in the sun w/ the top down takes a toll on the entire interior. My 20K-mile '98 has faded the headliner (I wasn't religious about installing the boot when the top went down), and the visors are faded. The driver's side visor has been abused further by me clipping my GDO remote on there, which I do no longer once I realized the wear and tear it was causing. However, had I put my top up every time I parked at work for the day only to drop it after work, I'm sure the top mechanism / motor / pump / hydraulics would be shot by now. This is just one of those trade-offs owning a 'vert: Wear out the top mechanism or put up w/ interior fading.

If anyone is interested in replacing their sunvisors see post 10 in the thread below.

Hey Ken, Glad you still have your ride. Mine now has 55k miles on it but garage kept since new. Even when new the car sat in a showroom in NC so it never sat outside ever except for our overnight vacations. Both visors are still MINT.
I guess I am lucky because I understand the cardboard deteriorating. My '96 C4 visors, with just 31k miles, is a disaster at the moment. If I have to adjust it, I choke on the dust. That's my next project.

BOTH of my sun visors are the the garage. It's pretty embarrassing when you are sitting at a stop light... styling with the top down... and as you adjust the sun visor, it comes off in your hand!!! NO longer styling!!

Ironically, the visors themselves are in decent shape, it's the mounts that deteriorated on both sides!

for a car with 170k mine have held up well. the fabric is faded to an almost tan color, but the cardboard is still solid, with maybe a little sag at the mount. trying to come up with a better than stock replacement.

I don't think these guys are sponsors and this post will probably get yanked but I got them at Firebird Central. I'll have pics soon.
