This might be one area where the DGM and RKS tonneaus differ. The DGM cover I have uses threaded wing-bolts / washers on one side that screw into threaded "keen-sert"-like bolts that are moulded into the lip on the other half to hold the two halves together. No tools necessary to take them apart.

This is what's really bugging the hell out of me. It just doesn't look right! The big *** gap and the way the nothing lines up, is just kicking my OCD into overdrive. This is what I need pics of from someone that has a true fitting cover. I don't know if mine is a DGM or an RKS or just some POS knock off, but the fitment looks like a middle school body shop did it. I need to get video of how it sits and how the lip jacks up to where you can't close the truck lid.

Hang in there, I'm up to my ears in a trans swap in my '68 Cutlass right now and hoping to be getting it wrapped up in the next week or so. Then I'll have time to get my covers down out of the attic and post some pics for you.

Quick note, I got my cover down tonight and put on and took some pics, (attached).

Mine are also flat across the sides and sits on top of the weather strip/drain hole like yours, and you can definately see part of the top in the gap that is left. But I think mine fit a little snugger around the seat belt. No problems with closing the trunk, just need to tuck the deck lid weatherstrip down at the sides after its closed (it gets pinched and sticks up).

Here's a return address from where I received mine, and pics of the fit on both sides.

Here's some pics of the underside showing what / how the two halves are held together.

Here's some closeups of the seat belt area fit, and the seam down the center.

Finally, here's a pic of the center support I made to reduce "trampolining". Reduces squeaks significantly and helps prevent cracks at the seat belt openings where its weak.

I'd say that for whatever reason, your cover's two sides are not mating properly and leaving a gap that is probably putting more stress on your deck lid to hold it down in the back. Fix that gap, and I'd bet your cover would fit better. Other than that, it looks like mine fits pretty much like yours along the sides and seat belt area. I think you need some gap where the seat belt fits to make it easier to pull it up through the hole and avoid stressing that unsuported "flap" of fiberglass hanging out in the breeze there.

lol... I forgot about this...

Thanks for the pics Johnny! Yeah, I guess mine are real. They fit around the edges like yours do. I can't believe how bad they were designed.

Thanks again man!

Cant believe you have to put that brace under it, for the price those cost plus having to paint it, they should have a better vendor supplied solution.

Something is wrong with your covers.. And it is recommended to brace it.. i have attached picture of how i did mine..back in the early 2000's. But, is is just fiberglass and some work is recommended as well.. i didn't/wouldn't just take it out the box and paint it.

What specifically are you referring to?

I see that you too also braced yours in the middle using your roll-bar cross strut (nice job).

I see that yours also sits up a bit on the forward sides leaving a gap (have to zoom in on your one photo to tell this, but its there similar to mine).

So I'm a bit confused by what you mean by "something is wrong with your covers".

NICE BPM T/A BTW!

these look cool.

After adding the brace, is it just one big piece like a hood?

Keep in mind that anything made specifically for the 4th-gen f-body 'verts is a niche product, as these were not produced by the millions, and only a small fraction of 'vert owners purchased tonneaus. Also, I don't believe these tonneaus were made prior to the LS1 years. Combine the short product life cycle and low production volume with the fact that the majority of the owners either may not have noticed or cared about the squeaking / cracking issues, its not too surprising that a re-design to alleviate these issues was never made.

Not the way the brace I made for mine works, it just "wedges" up under the front edge in the center to support the weight and prevent it from bouncing up and down (which is what causes the squeaks and flexes the weak spots). The two halves can still be easily separated.
