If you could do just one suspension mod......
Ok, so us convertibles are inherently different form our t-top brethren so not all suggestions should be the same. The big thing is our cars are a bit heavier and our weight placement is a bit different...
So with that all being said my wife, while she has let me get a few mods, doesn't want this to turn into one of my past cars or her current '72 dart build (past $6,000 in the engine bay alone). So I am allowed one suspension part or two depending on price. I am limited to around $4-500 total in cost.
That being said it's a '99 Z28 A4. I just want it to be a nice cruiser on a sunny weekend.

I started with strut tower brace, bolt in subframe connectors, rear control arms and panhard bar, all to tighten 'er up. Recently installed Strano's with Koni STR.t's and UMI solid sway bars (front sway bar broke, so decided to replace both). That will exceed your budget by a bit. I think that tightening up the frame would be the better place to start.

Subframe connectors. They will literally help your convertible to last longer. Since they are not that expensive nor difficult to install, put in a strut tower brace. I put a 3 point in my 99 WS6. Unless you plan to autocross or otherwise compete in the car, a 2 point should be sufficient.

Don't forget this
For $120 you can't go wrong with this package here.

I also have 3 point sub frame connectors and agree that the car felt completely different once I put those on. But I am a big fan of how it felt after the Panhard bar and control arms as well.

I was thinking about these also but can't decide if worth the money over stock since they are not adjustable?
Is it just the strength of the bar and LCAs over stock that helps the car?

You can't Founders, Good Quality and Good Pricing also. I have almost they're whole set-up, Only thing I need is the adjustable Torque arm. Safe some money and buy founders No regrets here. Not knocking the others at all, but for price Founders all the way.
