Rare Colored '98 & '99 Verts for sale
In my hunt for a BBM Camaro convertible or a MBM Firebird convertible, I did stumble across TWO of the 74 built 1998 green Z28 convertibles, both in really nice condition, one in FL and one in VA (VA one is also on ebay) for decent prices. Also found a 6 cylinder BBM vert and a MBM engine unknown with a salvage title.
Are 8 cylinder BBM/MBM verts really that hard to find? Somebody's gotta have one to sell eventually.

Yes they are tough to find, especially if you want a decent one. I don't know the production numbers for Camaros but the Firebird 'verts production was very low overall. The top of my head I know just slightly over 1,000 Trans Am verts were built for model year 2001 (396 base Trans Ams and 796 WS6 versions). Narrow that down to certain colors and you can see it won't be easy. 14+ years has taken it's toll on many as well. You wonder if even half that total are still registered and on the road.
Good luck with the search!

Take it from a guy who is/was in the same boat as you. There were ~17 Z28 convertibles and ~24 trans ams.... Produced in 1999. I think v6 cars are a bit more common.
In 13 years of looking on and off I've only seen one v6 convertible. Sadly my wife didn't let me get it. And that v6 'vert was sold to an out of stater. Trans ams I've seen 2-3 and 2 z28s (t tops no 'verts).
Seeing a trend?
So I bought a clean '99 'vert and when it's ready for paint guess what color it will be.

17 Z28 verts and 40 Camaro v6 verts in BBM. Don't have any idea on the Firebird numbers. Never have I seen a Z28 BBM convertible for sale and only recently have I seen the one v6 for sale. Not sure if I should jump on the v6 with hopes to convert it a v8, although I have read that that is a pain in the ***. Or, do I really need another Camaro...

The conversion isn't worth it. I researched it. I've wanted that color for years but I gave up.
However I'd trade my 'vert for a v8 mbm or bbm depending on mileage/condition and my wife knows it...

I've seen two bright blue convertible Z28's in person, one with a white top/interior, the other with a dark top/interior. Both were at the Woodward Dream Cruise and looked like they were in great shape. Here's a picture someone (not sure who, I just had it saved on my computer haha) took of the one with a white interior. It really looks great, especially with the white top. Good luck with your search!
