Default From the GSMNP to Cherohala Skyway (photos)

A full day driving yesterday on a beautiful trek from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, down the Foothills Pkwy, and then home via the Cherohala Skyway after a stop and photo op at Bald River Falls. At the highest elevations the leaves are already changing colors on the N Carolina side. I was even able to get 93 non-ethanol premium at a Phillips 66 in Townsend, TN for $3.19 a gallon. Some photos:

This is the best time of year to go--before the roads are crowded with slow driving leaf spectators and the weather is cooling slightly. I need to get up there!

Thanks! New England is spectacular in the Fall but no need to take on a trip like that when these views are less than 1 hour from my home. Taken last year on the Blue Ridge.

Thumbs up

Beautiful pics!
I'll be taking my 2000 rag top to the Skyway hopefully by the end of the month. Need to get some work done, and new tires first.

I was actually on the Tail of the Dragon when you made that post.
Got back home a few days ago. I'll throw up some pics soon. I spent a long weekend at Fontana Village and split my time between the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. Unfortunately, it was horribly foggy when I went up the Skyway, so very few good shots from there, but I got some good stuff from my Dragon trip.

I'm glad to see you still have your vert. I do too, but I rarely get on here.

Oh yeah, still have it. Thanks for reviving the thread. Even though almost 1 year old, it's still very relevant and the same. We just did the same loop in our C6 last week.
