Default T/A 'vert visits Naples & Everglades

We just returned from a FL trip to escape the winter for a bit. Nice to put the top down and even have the a/c on again. In ref to the picture along the palm tree lined road in Naples, I can just about be certain we had the only Pontiac within 10 miles. Porsches and Rolls were more common than any GM product. Some other pics include us by the Sanibel Island lighthouse (bottom photo), looking down from an observation deck in the J N Darling Refuge, and of course the Everglades. I wonder if that gator tail would cause a flat?
Enjoy the pics!

A few more in Shark Valley including the observation tower. It's a 15 mile loop through the Everglades.

^^^ Outside of the traffic you sure live in a wonderful area. At least during the winter anyway.
I didn't see one other Firebird during our entire travels. Probably one or two 4th gen Camaros. These cars are slowly disappearing from our roads.

Yeah, it can be bad this time of year. When the snowbirds come down the population triples. During the off season it isn't so bad.
There are actually a good many around but most, like me don't DD them. I have 5 F-bodies in my shop behind my house (two are mine and three belong to my friend the "Racin Reverend".
If you get this way again, give me a heads up.

My father, now 83 grew up in Ft. Myers, as a kid we went back to visit almost every summer. Back in the 60s and 70s, there were still plenty of beach houses and small cottages on Ft. Myers beach back then. Looking back, it was great family memories. All of those buildings have mostly been replaced by high rise buildings now.

I asked my dad what Sanibel and Captiva were like when he was young, 40s-50s, and why he or his brothers never bought land out there. he said no one was interested in them back then...they were viewed as just a island that no one would live on.

Kind of funny when you see them now!

Yes, enjoyed Captiva too and the entire trip until you mentioned the Green Flash restaurant. It was our only bad experience on the trip. Great views of the water but the most terrible grouper sandwich on the planet. $16.95 for this frozen thin fillet that even tasted 'off'. It was barely thicker than the tomato slice. We wrote them a 'poor' 2 star review on TripAdvisor using this photo below. Gorton's fish sticks would have been way better.

We all have stories like that. I worked in FL for my entire career until retiring here in NC back in '02. The real estate opportunities I passed on make my head spin. I could own a home in FL and here if I had the guts to spend some $$$. We won't even talk about the '70 Superbird I decided was too expensive back in the 80's at $25,000.

^^ Only the locals will know. Marco Island was wall to wall condos/homes and Naples isn't much better. Beach access with cars gets tougher every year. Daytona used to be great for that but I don't know anymore. The FL Keys have quite a few opportunities.
