Default What you guys think about this cam?

I'm buying this cam off my friend. Its a 238 248, 605 615 lift. Only 150 bucks with low miles out of an LS7 vette. Do you think it might be a little too big or what? What would be the drawbacks of such a big cam besides the gas mileage.

it will have good lope not dure what the lsa and centerline are. I run a 232/238 112lsa 119centerline with .600/.600. You will need springs and a tune! That cam along with some lg pro headers and a fast 90 will net you about 400 rwhp add some 34lb injectors and racetronix fuel pump you should be 415rwhp

this was off of the vette mueseum page:
Camshaft hydraulic roller; 15 mm (.591 in) lift (intake and exhaust)

He says the specs are: Cam specs are 210/230 .569/.565 w/1.7ra 120.5
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/L...dle_184997.htm

Now if the specs are true, that cam is small for a Ls1-6. Now if those specs are for a LS7, the cam you are buying is not a stock Ls7 cam. That cam is definitely a nice one for a LS1-6 motor.

I run a Ms4, 238/242 duration with .649/.609 lift on a 111lsa. With the stock fuel pump and 42lb injectors, and stock heads my car made 440rwhp on a mustang dyno. I still get around 28-30mpg on the expressway. Gotta love that 6th gear!

Why not? My buddy took a cam in a freind's 402 and put it in his otherwise stock LS1 w/o issue.

Too big, wrong cam for your heads and it will drive like crap if that's a concern. It's worth a couple hundred bucks more to get a cam that will work.

As far as changing injectors and adding a fuel pump will gain your more HP - that's just more misinformation and total BS. Listen to people who know what the hell they are talking about.

Say what? I'm sure you're either kidding or it's a typo. I don't even know if it would run on a 119 ICL.
As for the pump and injectors, they don't make power. EVER
You won't run the stock pump or stock injectors out on a 400 rwhp motor. The stockers would be fine in that HP range.
As for the cams fitting, working, the LS2/3/7 cams will work in an LS1/6, all you need to do is change the cam gear to the LS2 gear, install the LS2 timing cover with the cam sensor in it, and hook it up via a harness extender. Viola!!

Well I called COMPCAMS and I gave them all sorts of info on the car and they calculated a cam for the best gains at 6800rpm shift points, and they said a 238 242, 605 609, would be perfect. Kinda weird, since the cam I'm getting is just slightly off from that. I told them about it and they said it wont really make a difference, said it should work awesome so thats all I need to hear...

Is that their 287XER cam? I just sold one never put it in the car decided to go the custom cam route instead.

True, but IMO that is a fair amount of work for a $300 part. Just get the right part the first time and be done with it. There is no major need or reason to run a LS2/LS3/LS7 based cam on a LS1/LS6 block.
