Default LS1 Vette

i have a question for you corvette guys. did they put an ls1 in the 96 vette? my buddys stepdad claims that he has a 96 with a ls1. now i thought the ls1 was introduced in 1997? so is he right or wrong?

LS1 was not available in a '96.

so what motor what came in the 96? was it the lt1?

i had my freind send me a pic of the ellegid ls1 and sure enough, it was an lt1

technically his car could of been made in late 96' thus its actually could be a 96 ls1. just labled as a 97 ha.

well, as that guys buddy's dad is an idiot because he doesnt know $#&%....
in 1995 gm made a "comaro" camaro with a vette chassis for ls1 testing, as well as several c4 vettes with LS1s for cold start and traction control testing. but non of us will ever see any of the said vehicles, for they were most likely crushed after use.

the lt4's in my opinion were't that big of deal compared to the lt1.i mean yes im sure u can get feel the 330 vrs 300 hp but cmon how big of a deal can it be.

Ride in a LS3 and LS2 vette then restate that question. You would be surprised.

Yeah... Actually that's a good comparison, but LT and LS motors have a totally different power/torque curve. 30HP doesn't feel like as much on an LT as an LS. But you still feel it.
