Default New best at track last night

This is a new best for me. Previously 11.77 @ 119.81 mph. This tight converter sure makes it hard for a good launch. Any too I need to make a few changes to my tune. Recorded quite a lot of KR in 2nd and 3rd gears which had not showed up on the street. IATs were so high probably the reason. 117* at launch.

08 A6 with NPP, headers, intake, udp and tune

Nice job, but you can deff get that car to to better. That 60 ft can come down a lot you should be in the 1.6's minimum. But keep working at that tune and launch and get yourself in the 10's

Thanks NoTractionLS1!

That 1.84 60' was with no spinning. I don't think I can do much better with this converter. You just can make power at 1600 rpm. I'm going about 26-27 mph before I start making power. Lots of time lost.

Larry is too humble to reference his old 10 second NA 4th gen and his experience with converter and sticky tires.

Larry what do you think would be a good size converter for those LS3 cars for all around driving but getting down in the 1.6's on a radial.

John, I think for all around driving a Yank 3200 would be good. But for maximum acceleration this car needs a 4000 stall. Patrick G has a Yank 3200 in his G8 with the same A6 tranny and says it's very streetable. I think most LS3 guys go with about a 3000-3200 which gives good results but leaves some on the table. Usually a 1.6X 60' with a 3200 for those making in the 120-123 mph range. A 4000 should get some very low 1.5s or high 1.4 60'.

Yes, I sure enjoyed that 98 Camaro. With my PI 3600 stall and 122.6 mph speed it ran a 10.77 et., 1.44 60'. Would think an LS3 with 122.6 mph could do the same.

And don't forget my 10.30 @ 126.62 mph, 1.39 60' 88 Mustang. What was a fun car turned out to be not so fun on my last pass. Crash!

Now do you have a 2.56 or a 2.73 geared C6, and do you think there is much of a difference?

I have a 2.73. Not sure if there is much difference. Maybe a tenth? That 3.15 or a converter would be better!

i have the yank 3600 with 3.42 gears which drives good on the street and it pulled a best of 1.51 on stock suspension. in decent weather (and i also have coilovers now) it pulls 1.55. im thinking with the right weather and tire i maybe able to pull a 1.49 which would be awesome.

good luck with your choice if you decide to do a converter

How much power are you making? A 1.5X would get me close to the 10s with traction.

car put down 397 RWHP and 377 RWTQ, the LS3 should be able to get more than that easily

I dynoed when I had the Z06 manifolds and put down 427 hp/423 torque. Not sure how much the headers improved my numbers if any but I should be able to run some 1.5 60' then with the same gearing and converter that you have. Not sure I want to go with a 3.42 gear but a converter might be in my future.

That's right, you had Z06 manifolds before... what prompted you to swap those out to headers... Just looking for more power? Is the engine noise louder now (tickety tick ).. ?

Why did I swap out to headers, that's a good question John. Very little performance gain for the money but I think I did get a little more power and too they were 20 pounds lighter than the Z06. Don't think I could have ran an 11.51 with the Z06 manifolds.

My 427 rwhp was with the gutted Z06 cats. The sound is about the same with my high flow cats and headers as the Z06 was with gutted cats. The Z06 w/cats is quieter than my high flow cats. Either is very acceptable with this NPP exhaust however. No tickey tick sound.

So you are running what size headers? Into Z06 exhaust and stock Z06 mufflers?

I'm wondering what size converter would get the cars into the very high 1.5's and low 1.6's and still drive good... 3200... 3600?

Might want to talk to Patrick about a converter. He is very happy with his Yank Pro Extreme and says it's very streetable. Rather expensive converter though.

I have Kooks 1 7/8" headers running into my stock C6 NPP mufflers.
