C5 z06 top speed?
I was wondering what is a factory top speed of a "405 hp" c5 z06? I was going down the freeway and almost touched 160 for a few seconds at about 2 am with very little traffic. My car has only a CAI
I was in 5th gear at about 5500 rpm, it felt like it had more in it to go, but i wasnt going to get that crazy...
I know fbodies that have z rated tires have a limiter at 162mph...
here was my quick snapshot... please no negative comments

I had mine up to 170 (stock) when I raced a 2003 Viper (I won) and I had to shut off b/c I was just about at redline and was 2 cars in front of the guy so I was happy with the win. This was on Highway 10 in California and if you been on that highway when going towards Arizona it is straight as hell for miles. But to answer your question, 5th tops out at about 171.

A M12 is a T56, both the M12 and MN6 are T56's they just have a different set of gears. The 5th gear in a MN6 just doesn't seem to pull as well as the 5th gear in the M12 - driving both at Road America - in the MN6 I just hold 4th in the M12 I use 5th. If you're just going for top speed and have the room the MN6 will get you to 197 at 6500, the M12 is only 176.

Pump the reve limiter up to 7000 and you could hit 189 in a M12 (215 in a MN6!) Better pack some serious punch.
Here's a vid of a LPE Z06 doing 226 in a standing mile - 1200 hp - saw the car a few years ago when I was down there, crazy fast!

I agree with Venom. If someone could sync these videos it would be a good video race. Not sure if that has been done before. lol...BTW mine was on a slight uphill incline and was not shifting fast for obvious reasons...If not so obvious notice wheel spin at top of third gear.

When stock ive had my 01 to 165-168. Didnt seem like there was anymore in her. After my mods, i tacked 174-175. Ima try one more time after my cam install and see what she'll do. Im only gonna do this one time. I have the perfect 6 lane (3 in 3) hiway to perform this on at 2 in the morning.

The highest I got my car up to was 165. At that speed it was like I literally hit a brick wall though. It wouldn't pull anymore so I would guess it would be in the 170mph range on the stock rev limiter.

178MPH. You're not going to get more than that out of a stock Z06 unless you set the rev-limiter higher. Top of 6500 in 5th gear is 178.
In theory, with a MN6 gear ratio, you could crack 190's. Stock base C5's don't have enough power to push to the top of 5th though.
The C5Z's limiting factor is gearing. Not aerodynamics (which is what some people will tell you).

My bad I meant I changed my M12 to MN6.
We do a lots of top speed runs here with my MN6 I Can go close to 170mph in 4th 7000rpm so I dont need to shift to 5th.
