Save up, dont buy a cheap clutch...Rps twin/excedy twin. If you must go cheap i guess go with a monster...Heard only good things, expecially with driveability.

Really depends on how far you wanna go..I would prefer a twin disc and something thats going to handle as much power as possible..Only problem with that is your driveability with most clutches gets pretty shitty the more "heavy duty" they are.If you are planning on making 500whp i would probably go with the stage 3..Ive heard driveablilty is really good and they are pretty well priced...But you will find a lot of different opinions on clutches so i would listen to what everyone on the board has to say...

If you're concerned about driveability get a twin disk. The full face allows for smooth and chatter-free engagement which you won't always get out of a puck style clutch like a Monster stage 3 and up. If you do go Monster I would recommend a stage 3 at a minimum especially if you ever up the power level.

You know the old saying you get what you pay for.

You want the best this is what i would get.

You pay a little more but it would be the last on you will ever buy.
He builds all the NHRA clutches for the big names.
If you need one i can get you one.

He is down the street from my shop.

get an ls9 clutch or an ls7 if you are staying at 430whp. the ls9x holds up to 750whp and has a like stock pedal and no chatter AT ALL. great clutch overall drag racing tracks or even for daily driven cars. same goes with the ls7, but i wont get it if you are planning on going more than 450whp or want to drag race it a lot. i would get a really good clutch because these cost $$$$$ to replace. so do it right the first time!

The actual cost of a clutch is only a part of the total cost. You should consider install cost as well as rebuilding or replacing the clutch. You need to consider your use, power level and future power levels. With that said, there are much better clutches than the LS7. IMHO it does not hold up to stock power levels at the strip. We carefully evaluated numerous clutches for our C6Z Bolt-On build and came up with the RPS LSX BC2. We observed mid 1.4x 60's, thousands of street miles, and 131 passes down the strip before we inspected it. The wear was almost negligible and gave us confidence that we could get at least two full drag racing seasons. We have seen 60's as low as 1.36 and wonderful street manners. RPS also makes clutches that are more suited to your car and driving style. You could give Rob Smith a call at RPS 818-993-9174 and he could set you up with the proper product. IOHO, there is no finer street strip clutch.

I am glad it worked well for you but not interested in spending $2000 for a clutch. I know labor expensive but is anyone using a centerforce. I been to their site and they have some new clutches a 12inch version supposed to be resonable price. Right now I have a full bolt on LS3 vette and probably will be adding a cam in about a year or 2.

I am also considering a monster clutch stage 3. Any thoughts?

Yes the BC2 is really durable and met our needs; however, I mentioned that there are other less expensive RPS clutches available. This is grabbed off of their website. I know you can easily beat the list price with some of the fine vendors out there.
ST-04LSX-C6 Street Twin Carbon clutch and flywheel kit for all C6 Corvette's (includes special RPS C6 TOB) $1,795.00 I cannot mention enough that a good clutch is needed in our cars. A bargain clutch will most-likely be fine for easy drives and lower HP vehicles. A reputable company that gives outstanding customer service is worth a lot. I would hate to see you choose a clutch that ultimately you are unhappy with when you hit the track. We can tell you from experience that it's cheaper in the long run to buy the better/correct part than replacing the so-so part later.

The ls3 vette shares the same clutch as the ls7 zo6 they are garbage and stick like crazy if you ride the clutch at all..run far far away.. I could only muster a 1.74 60 ft out of it with 500rwhp...clutch swap to ram twin disk now 1.5 60
