Default 2004 Z06 extended warrenty...

I just purchased an 04 Z06 last week and am now contemplating putting an extended warranty on it since its low miles (under 20K). I just got off the phone with the GM extended warranty (GMPP) and they said since my car is over 6 years old and a Z06 they cannot offer me anything. She said if it was a base model it would have been 3 year 36,000 for 2,670, 4 year 2,790, 5 year 2,945, but since it was a Z the only place she knows of would be a place called warranty direct. Is there anyone that has had this experience? Thanks in advance

I didn't know 6 years was the limit. I bought my '02 Z06 with 26K miles back in January '08 and got a GMPP extended warranty for 2 yrs (can't remember the miles). I ended up selling the warranty back after about a year since I had major modifications planned which would void the warranty anyways.

any mods to the car will void the warranty. I'm sure if you can get a warranty for the car it will not be cheap.

$2670 is an expensive insurance program especially given most deny coverage for racing and if you break the rear or a tranny that's the first thing they'll be thinking, I think you are probably better off just putting the money in a bank account as a rainy day fund.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll start putting money away for an new diff and clutch, seeing as that is the first things to go as I've read. Might as well do LT's at that time too before either one breaks or wears too far, with aftermarket items of course.
