Default Time to upgrade the drive train - pics

I'm running a stock 12mm prop shaft (torque tube), M12 and Z06 3.42 rear with a 300M long side shaft. I've been a little concerned about pushing 577/530 through a setup designed for much less power so....when it wouldn't shift at high RPM I decided it was time to upgrade. With my good friend Rick Kim - RAGTOPWS6 - providing his high level of expertise - we came up with a plan. The prop shaft will receive RPM poly bushings, the trans will be brought up to Level 5 specs and the rear will be upgraded using mostly C6Z internals. I also am taking the oportunity to change the clutch from a SPEC 3+ to an RPS Twin Lite. I had a RAM Dual Street in it before but I hated the rattle. The RPS has the smooth benefits of the dual disc without the rattle. Thanks Tony Mamo for you're help with this.

Here are the initial pics. I'll add more as we progress.

Torque tube dropped - the Spec hasn't been in there long enough to get dirty.

RPS Twin Lite

Clutch Installed

TT Bushings with about 1k miles on them are coming out.

M12 getting ready for disassembly

I'm really glad Rick is very good at this part

Rick says things look excellent so the upgrade begins. I'll add more pics when the rear gets opened up.

When do you think you'll be back on the road?

Trans all buttoned up - now, onto the differential which gets C6Z carrier, clutch packs, shafts, etc, etc.

Good pic of the ECS brace

Thanks for the pic Rick! Your the man!

It's strange seeing your car with the top up.

Hey Kevin that clutch looks very familiar. I love my RPS street twin lite. You should too. I actually just got back an hour or so ago from driving my car for the first time since putting it up. Flawless, cough cough after swapping a new T Stat in. LOL.

Congrats.

Meant to ask what master cylinder you have? My high rpm shifting issue was solved after the TICK Master was installed. Just wondering if you were still using the stocker?

Great pics, looks like what Rodney did when building my rear end and Donnie did re doing my trans after an expensive trip to the track.

Hey Doug,

I put a Tick in there trying to help the old clutch. It will stay in there with the RPS.

Rick is finished and took the car for a test ride yesterday. His pm to me was "WOOOOOO! you're going to love this".

He said the RPS Twin Lite clutch is like butter and actually makes the car drive much better - if that's possible. In his words "This car is a monster" He hasn't even taken it over 4500RPM.

Thanks to Tony Mamo for the help with the clutch and of course my friend Rick for his excellent work.

Can't wait to get my little grocery getter back.
