New to me 02 Z06
Sold my 2001 Firehawk and picked up this 2002 Z06 a couple weeks ago. It is all stock except for a K&N intake and filter, only 40,000 miles, and extremely clean. It is my first corvette, so I have been pretty excited. I was surprised at the smooth ride and agile handling, the power was expected. I contemplated a 2010 2SS, but went with the vette. The exhaust is very quiet compared to the GMMG that I had on the Firehawk. What would anyone recommend to obtain that throaty sound? Here are a couple pics. There will be more to come.

I personally have a B & B prt catback. It was on the car when I bought but I like it alot. Alot of it is going to come down to personal opion. Most exhaust companies have a sound clip section or go to some local shows and ask to hear some cars. The prt is one of the louder exhausts from what I am told.

I hate raspy or cackly exhaust notes. They sound like glasspacks or like mufflers that have holes in them. The closest to a "Flowmasters-on-a-5.0L-Mustang" hollow-sounding exhaust I have heard on a Vette is the Borla S-system, or "Stinger". I have the 2-tip version on my Z06. Make sure you purchase some type of X-pipe, too. It will eliminate 90% of exhaust drone.

I have stingers on my z06 with x pipe, catless and kooks long tubes. Its super deep at idle with the cam but seems to really scream at wot. I drove one with full exhaust and B$B bullets before i settled on the z and it was very nice as well. Cant go wrong with either though i think the bullets were deeper at wot.

Headers are definitely in my future, I will be going with kooks lt's. I might do the lt's first like you are saying. Would definitely yield more performance. Great suggestion. Thanks to everyone for the responses and compliments. If anyone else has something to say, please feel free to chime in.

awesome choice. my friend had a 98 trans am with pacesetter headers and a gmmg. Like you said it is very loud. to match him i put american racing headers, x pipe, and B&B bullets on my z06. The loudness is about the same but the z06 sounds much cleaner. Here is a sample of the vette.

I too just sold my fbody and picked up an 03z just last month. Owned my 97z since it was new. This z is amazing in stock form, i can't beleive the way it handles, it's insane. Got mine bone stock, 1 owner, 36k mi. I plan on doing the usual bolt ons, intake LTs and a no cat x pipe. I'd like to keep the stock ti's and do the bypass mod, I hear it sounds really good.

Depends on what sound you want.... you want more rumble, get a chambered muffler. If you want more raspy and treble, go with a straight though. I suggest Borla like everyone else. Quality parts, good sound, good performance gains... why not? The price lol. If you can afford it, go Borla!
