Default low,surging idle

i just installed an ls1 hotcam that a friend gave me in my 99 c5, sounds great at idle but tends to surge and idle low almost to the point of dying.
wandering if drilling a hole in the throttle blade will help? i am a little low on funding so ls1 edit and dyno tuning are not an option yet. it is a 6 speed car and everything else is stock.

What is the correct RPM for idle? I have am 01 C5... @ idle, it sits at 500, but sometimes when shifting from park to reverse, or from reverse to drive, it drops below that and seems to bog for a second.

It doesn't do it at any other time. Should this be a concern? I'm bone stock, BTW.

The idle needs to be tuned. The decay and idle values sound like they need to be changed. And 500 seems very low GA_Driver. My idle is set at 850. Stock was around there iirc. I would think an A4 car would idle about 800-1000.

So I need to go ahead & get the HPtuner, then. Or maybe check for a frog stuck in the fuel filter.

GA_Driver check with another A4 driver. That may be normal. A friend of mine with an A4 Fbody says his idle was around there stock. I would have thought an A4 would idle higher than an M6, but I've never owned one or paid attention to the ones I've ridden in. You're probably fine.
