Best year for c6 z06?
it seems ive started to like corvettes a bit more than i used to.
To the point where i think i will one day buy one.
Sooo, that being said, i really like the c6 z06s but i see that in about 2008
( i think) the engines were changed from the LS2 to the LS3, :::EDIT:::- whoops sorry that was the base model so
the z06 had the LS7:::::
so was the transmission, and one or two other things were changed.
My question is What is the best year c6 z06 to get if i was in the market for one?
Ideally a manual and whatever one was more powerful/best handling.
Idk, if you know about any problems they have post those too.

As far as power and handling go any C6 Z06 is going to be the same. Also all Z06 are manual transmission.
I think it was 08 that the trans got upgraded to the stronger version.

i have a 07 c6 base and i like it. i would rather had a z06 but the deal i got was too good to pass up. anyways, i would shoot for 08 or newer because of the ls3. the interior is a little more apealing on the ls3 cars too, but, really like mine too. just beware, vettes are very expensive to mod. im finding this out now..... gl!

08+ gOT the new TR6060 trans, smoother and heavier built then the 06/07 which used a t56. The t56 is not bad at all, it's been a proven Trans used by gm for a long time in the c5.
Also, the new 08+ got upgraded interiors with leather classes doors and dash and a faux carbon fiber console. Bluetooth was also an option.
Theres nothing wrong with 06/07 models tho, just depends on your budget. Expect to pay:
$33-43k for an 06/07
$46+ for 08 and newer
I'm actually selling my 06 z for 45k b/c mine is heavily modded h/c package making 570rwhp on a brand new engine. Market is crap right now and no one is buying so if you really want a good deal, time is now. (ps, don't try it on me, I'm firm at 45k... Lol)

Ive got an 07 and love it, only had a week but I love it. lol. I already ordered the 08 center console to update the interior some as well. I picked the 07 I got because of its condition, miles, and minor mods.

NICK V...for me i would love a brand new one, what with additional handling and braking...but the Z06 has slightly gained some weight since it's inception in '06...so i would think the 2006 would be the lightest, friend of mine's got it weighed at a little over 3,200lbs...again as said before, every year got some sort of upgrade, but not in power.
CAR & DRIVER recently ran a 11.6@126.00...any year Z06 is a winner...my favorite car in this country, and is that black Z06 yours ???...that is one gorgeous car.

z06 get's 35mpg cruising around 60-70mph.. Ask any owner. I would personally want an 08 for the tr6060 transmission. My 2nd gear 2ncro went out in my 06 z51 that had the t56... There's a reason known shops like rpm considered tr6060 an upgrade. Fyi For yal that dont know there's been plenty of guys getting the z06 in 10s with just dr upgraded. The amount of time and cash I spent to make my car faster then a z06 I could of easily bought one. Just didn't had the funds at the time and my build for my car been going on for a while now. All vette owners can tell you of the "corvette tax" It's bs but it is what it is

And work your way up through the years.
Essentially, 2006 and 2007 are similar except 2006 allegedly had more aggressive tuning and less sound deadening.
2008 added the Tremec TR6060 transmission (over the T56 from 06, 07) and a carbon fiber look to the console. Steering adjusted slightly. Added 3LZ option for leather wrapped interior.
2009 added bluetooth and a hatch pull down option in 2LZ and above. Ebony leather wrap now available in 3LZ (2008 only had it in the Will Cooksey special editions). Cars also got the larger capacity dry sump from the ZR1. Spider wheels available (2008 only on the Will Cooksey). More steering enhancements too, I believe.
2010 added launch control? Or was that 2011?
Not much changed until the carbon options (side skirts, spoiler, splitter), brake upgrades (ceramic), and magnetic ride control (from the ZR1) became an option in 2011. Those were the big changes.
Color options have also changed throughout the years. They opened up all colors on all cars in 2010 much to the chagrin of those who bought the Will Cooksey (Crystal Red) and Ron Fellows (Arctic White) special editions.
Someone add or correct where needed.
