Default Remove C5 Corvette Engine

Sorry guys I have searched and haven't found what i'm looking for... I'm removing the ls1 off my 98 C5, ive got all the acessories removed and will be pulling it out through the top. But my question is do I remove the Torque Tube from the Engine or do leave the bellhousing attached to the engine? Thanks in advanced guys.

If you are pulling the engine from the top, then leave the torque tube and bellhousing in the car. Just unbolt the bellhousing from the back of the block. When I pulled mine I had the cylinder heads off, so it was easier to access the bellhousing bolts. You might consider going ahead with removing the heads before you pull the engine if you are planning a full rebuild. You will also need to drop the front cradle in order to move the engine forward enough to disengage from the torque tube.

Agreed, you can also unbolt the torque tube from the bellhousing (if bellhousing bolts un-accesssable) and then the front cradle needs to be dropped just below the end of the studs to have enough clearance between the oilpan and cradle.

Might as well go ahead and roll the engine cradle out and give it a good cleaning while you are that far along. This was mine at 250,000 miles.
