Default C6 Z51 Brakes

Are these an upgrade over C5 brakes? I got offered a full set for $300.

Is it substantial if it IS an upgrade?

I did the C6 Z51 mod on the front of mine with the Baer 14" rears.
The Z51 rotors are 1" larger in diameter as I recall. Do I feel a difference braking on the street...no. But, I would be willing to bet that GM must have done some testing that showed some improvement out on the track. Calipers are
the same so I wouldn't expect a huge improvement.

To me, more than anything else, it sure looks a heck of a lot better than the tiny rotors that are on our cars from the factory.

I might be inclined to check with a sponsor and see just how much the caliper relocation brackets are running now along with whatever rotor you may want to see if what you're being offered is a "deal" or not. Scoggin-Dickey has everything 10% off right now.

Thanks for the reply Rick. I've read that the abutment brackets that came stock on the car work fine.

I'm beginning to think this may not really be worth it. I was blown away at the stopping power from just the stock brakes compared to my FBody.

300 is hard to pass up... I figure I'd at least need lines though.

Z51 rotors off my 08 A6 were 13 3/8" diameter. I believe stock C6 brakes are 12.80 dia.

I'd be coming from stock C5 brakes. Problem is my car shudders like crazy when braking. They're warped to absolute hell.

Just contemplating 200 for new pads and rotors, or jump to C6 Z51 stock brakes for a bill more.

Just get some new rotors + pads. The 6 piston c6 z06 brakes are the big upgrade for c5s. You can replace the fronts (rotors/pads/cals) for ~1000-1200 I think.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm just going to do replacement pads and rotors. BrakeMotive has a one yr warranty against defect and warping. Kinda hard to pass up for the price.
