Default What is the Best HEAD CAM PACKAGE for the STREET?

Car is not a daily.

63k miles
ls1
kooks headers and catless mid
c5z ti
SLP intake
Street Tune
otherwise stock

Looking to make fat street power - what is the best heads / cam package to do so at a reasonable price?

Dont want: Car to die at lights, cold start issues, etc - must be "reliable"
Do want: I like CHOP.

I would call Brian tooley racing and ask him he is a ls1 God and can tell you exactly what package you need for it be just for power or for a daily that's who I'm going to for my c5 for my needs because I want 500hp but still a good daily

So many good heads out there to choose from. TFS are top of the line, along with AFR and MMS. If you're looking for CNC'd GM castings, Advanced Induction or TEA would be good choices. I'm extremely happy with my Dart/RHS fully CNC'd heads from Advanced Induction.

there is no "best" but i really enjoyed an old ls1 combo i had. ported ls6 heads with a 226/226 112+4 cam from TSP. AI heads with a 226/226 cam would be my recommendation based off that combo.

i later had larger headers, larger cam, larger exhaust, ported fast intake, biggwe stall etc etc. I made more power on the dyno, but couldnt beat the track times that simple combo did.

I had the same exact cam in my Trans Am (stock heads) and it was the absolute perfect daily driver cam. Could have come from the factory itself. Barely any wait for it to warm starting up. Never bucked when driving slow. It was throaty at idle but really opened up at throttle. Cannot go wrong with this cam.

For N/A or nitrous cars, a Vindicator is a great cam. With stock heads and stock intake on a LS6, my 03 Z06 made 438rwhp and 408rwtq with 1 3/4 tsp off road x pipe. It still had a nice exhaust tone to make it distinct over stock, yet livable for everyday driving.

I agree with these guys a mid 220s duration cam with factory castings ported is a great way to go. Drive-able and affordable with great average power.

i got lil over 450 tro the wheels off a stock block just bolt ons and dyno tune. and like 98vette says tooley is a beast so if u wanna go that route and use his build that would be gold, but also if you wanna go with your own build and keep reliability i would go ported heads and a mild high cam so you wont have problems with cold idle and red lights.
