2007 C6 rearend clunking/groaning noise while backing up
Hello all.
I just recently purchased an 07 C6.
6 speed
Z51 (if it matters)
While backing out of a parking spot (or the driveway) I hear a squeeking/clunking noise coming from my rearend. It doesn't seem to be prominent on one side or the other. It almost seems like something is binding but it doesn't effect the performance or drivability in any way.
I notice it most when I'm backing up. Maybe a little while I'm trying at slow speeds while in 1st gear.
Any suggestions on where to look first?
Car is bone stock, 25k miles.

I've seen this on several C6's - they didn't put any limited slip additive in the gear lube.
All you need to do is change the diff fluid, I typically use Royal Purple Max Gear 75w90 - it will take a little over 2 quarts (so you'll have to buy three bottles.)
After you fill it go out and do some figure 8's in a parking lot to help get the fluid in between the clutch packs - it will quiet down a bunch.
