Default tire size

Ok all i just bought some bfgoodrinch t/a kd tires 275-40-17 up front and 295 35-18 in the back and the front tires have more side wall than the backs, looks funny. My question is they dont make a 265 40 17 for the front but they make a 255 40 17 how much smaller would that look, would the rim lip stick out past the tire?

I got the same tire package, and have considered running 275/35/17, up front. The front tire has always looked like it was a bigger sidewall, even from the factory! Nitto and BFG I think make a 305/35/18 that puts you right back to stock tire diameters, and they fit nice, to bad BFG doesn't just make that in the kd. I have seen the 255 you are talking about, and it still looks taller than the rear, but it will fit on the stock rim without a problem, just a light amount of bow out is all.

a 275/35/18 on the front would be pretty good two!

I'm running that exact combo. Honestly I don't really notice it anymore. The difference is not huge when comparing to other tire combos. When I get tires next I will look to see if the sizes have changed. The KD is such a great tire that I was willing to put up with the slight mismatch to run them. FWIW no one has ever commented on it. My car is lowered and that may help make it less noticeable.

I now have the 17x9.5 in front, but since my rims are wider knockoffs, I can use the 18x9.5stock rear rim in the front with a 18x10.5 in the rear. Now BFG has a 265/35/18 tire that will fit the front, and will nicely compliment the rear 295/35/18 rear tire giving a drag look. Also if you want a big brake kit for the front you need a 18" or larger rim to accomodate a 14" brake kit. The Goodyear Supercar tires with 265/40/17 and 295/35/18 are within .1" taller sidewall of eachother, compared to the .4" taller you get with the BFG's.

If you go a plus one all around BFG has a 265/35/18 front and a 295/30/19 rear that are within .1" sidewall of eachother also, this is what I have seen a lot of guys run who have gone to a larger diameter rim.

I used a website tire calculator, to determine what tire would work best, with close to stock parameters.

On front, I have 275/40-17 Nitto 555r Extremes(sidewall=4.3"), on a 17x9.5 wheel...on back I have the 305/35-18 Nitto 555r drag radials(sidewall=4.2"), on an 18x10.5 wheel.
This combo looks great, hooks great, and barely affects the speedometer readings(rear tire dia.) at all.

If I were to go with an 18 up front, I would select the 275/35-18, which has a 3.8" sidewall. Hope this helps you!

Good luck!!!
