Ok fellas, I have an '04 with 1700 miles on it. I was doing some 'spirited' driving and missed 1st to 2nd pretty bad 2 times. I had the clutch matted when shifting from 1st to 2nd hard and got nothing but bone jarring grinding.

Anyway, after that just driving around normally it grinds 2nd almost every time. When I'm at low rpms in 3rd downshifting to 2nd to make a turn, it grinds. From 1st to 2nd at a decent clip, it grinds. No other gear seems affected, only the one that ground.

I also noticed that the 1st to 4th function seems to not work properly. It seems to turn on at 1700 rpms and off again at 2000 rpms.

I also noticed that when shifting into 2nd, it doesn't feel as if it goes as far back as it used to but it's so subtle that I am not sure if I am imagining things.

Has anyone heard of such a thing? Is this a common occurence? What could be wrong?

Take it back to the dealership.

syncros are gone take it in for the dealership to fix....

Play dumb when you take the car back to the dealer.I wouldn't mention the "spirited driving " part.They'll fix it under warranty.You might consider an aftermarket shifter to help avoid this problem in the future.

Similar thing happened to me at SLP appreciation days when I missed third and hit fifth. A week later they were rebuilding my tranny.

Take it in, do not admit to any racing.
