Default 02 or 03 Z06

I am interested in acquiring a Z-06 this year, either the 2002 or 2003, anyone have any good and "accurate" speculation of the 2003 Vette (More HP, more engine option...etc?)

Also, in the case I did elect to get a 2002 Z06, what are my aftermarket options? Anyone made Long Tube Headers, X-Pipe, head and cam for the Z06? (I know West Coast Vette had a 45 HP package for the 2002 Z-06, but I am interested in a little bit more potential future performance improvement).

Thanks in advance.

The information I have seen indicate that no change to the Z06 is being made in 2003, except maybe a different name for the black...

Yea from what I hear the cars will be exactly the same as the 02. If you can wait for an 03, id get an 03 because even though the 02 might be a new car, the 03 will be a model year newer. So.......go for an 03 if ya can hold off!

Nah, no HP upgrade. GM really upgraded the 02 in other ways than just the power. Different clutch is one of them. I think they pissed enough people off that owned 01s when the 02s came out that they thought theyd better hold off on any improvement to not make the 01 and now the 02 guys pissed. I could really care less, I have my car and love it! Get one man, you will too!

personally, considering no real changes between the 02 and 03 Z's, you will save MEGA dollars buying a straggler 02. You can get an 02 for $4000 off msrp pretty easily.

Yes, but if you know how to shop, you can do the exact same thing with a 2003

The hp increase is coming for 2004, it'll have 450hp by then, and 2005 will supposedly be 500hp! (it's going to be a much larger engine, 6.4L I believe)

Probably not, I'm sure the Z06 will be the only one getting those engines, and it'll probably continue being M6 only. I'd love to have a 500hp A4 Vette from the factory!

They have to make 500hp now though, to compete with the new Vipers.

450 500hp would be awsome. I was hoping they would do something like that for the 50th anniversary edition, but no cigar. any word on the mythical C6?

Those who complain about it not coming with an auto could always take some driving course.

Auto course? Why? I know how to drive standard, I've driven them for years, I'm simply sick of them. I was tired of missing shifts at the track. Even when I was fully practiced I would miss a shift on one out of every 4 or 5 runs down the track. Nobody is perfect. So I simply find that I prefer auto now, not that I don't know how to drive a stick. By the way, I very very rarely missed a shift on the street, it was only when I was under pressure at the track to shift lightning quick.
