fast blk y2k c5

I OWN A OO C5 but i understand that the 01S and up have 5 more hp which is a lie that LS6 intake i know makes more than 5 hp, i test drove a 02 and it did feel faster, can someone tell me if there is a big difference in performance,and how much. i dont race other vettes but if i do just for fun how bad will he beat me,i only been to the track twice this year and ran 1370 @ 103 slowest and 1337 @ 105 best A4 315 gears.bone stock can you 01S and up give me your best times bone stock thanks.

I can't vouch for 01s+ but in my 00' C5 a4, 315s and a Blackwing filter I went a best of 13.00 @106.8 on stock tires then 12.911@107.4 with no TQ managment and DR's.

I know this is not bone stock but bonestock I'm sure would have been in the 13.2@104 range because a Blackwing ain't gonna give me more than 2 10ths and 2 MPH. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

In the world of F-bodies (which are similar in the change from 00' to 01') the 01's seemed faster at times. Most were a couple 10ths faster and others were as slow as the older models. Just depends on what ya got.

But there were more factory freaks popped out in 01-02' that were running 12's BONE STOCK!!

First of all take the horsepower rating with a grain of salt. I've read on many occasions that GM was very conservative when they rated the engines at this. I've read they are actually more around the 380 hp range, hence the ZO6 with a different cam and slightly different heads boast 405 and 410 depending on the yr. Think about that !!! Throughout the yrs from 97 up the power was pretty much the same but of course more refined from yr to yr. Shouldn't be much of a difference on stock models. You'd be amazed what a few "basic" mods make though. And I'm talking very basic here !!! Like quality air cleaner, removing the MAF screen, relocating the MAT sensor, a seal between the hood and nose etc, throttle by-pass etc. Low cost basic upgrades. My vette now is heavily mod'd but even when it had these basics it would kill stock vettes.

Its actually the increased torque rating on the 2001 C5 that you noticed...more so than the 5hp...(jmo)

I had a 99 C5 A4 3:15 with Halltech TRIC intake, corsa indy's and reprogramed pcm throw down consistant 12.88's or 12.9x's at 109.44 mph as a best..most traps were over 109 pretty easily with street tires..

If I had a stock 2000 vette..A4..I'd recommend ..a cold air intake like the vararam or whatever..then probably buy the diablo preditor..for its ability to change shift points..etc..

You'll be in the twelves easy..

Always look to www.corvetteforum.com for used parts..intakes..exhausts b/c you'll pay half price..

I'd also probably recommend another inexpensive mod ..the Shaner S2 throttle body..

I just threw one on my Z06 and I love this thing..still looks like a stock part from the outside too.

Corsa indy's or touring have no resonance on the A4 and thats something to make sure of when and if your considering catbacks..

Can't speak for the other brands of cat backs but some do have annoying resonances..

Good luck and the difference in the 2000 vs. newer models is easily made up..

Probably wouldn't bother with 2001 intake manifold switch..I think its the combination of manifold and cam that makes the higher torque levels you noticed..

At the track..the 2001 and newer A4's were quicker out of the box but with a few mods..your right there..

Its GM's subtle continuation of performance refinement that makes these cars so cool.
