Default question about gearing in new Z06

Ok, if i hear correctly the new z06 has 3.42 which isn't all that low of gearing, plus it has a high revving engine, which means your can hit 60 while still in first. I also hear it runs about a 11.7 quarter according to a few magazines and chevrolet. Thats damn fast for a stock car for under 70k. Not that i will ever be able to afford anything of the sort, but if someone were to just switch the gears for lower ones like 3.73, 3.90, maybe 4.10s wouldn't that make a BIG difference in the quarter mile times?

Yes if you could get the traction. We have to remember this car is optimized for road racing ie cornering and stopping. Wheelspin is a huge problem with the stock engine and gearing. Stickier tires will be needed.

If it is like the C5s then it has different gearing in the transmission to allow the 3.42 in the rear to act more like a 3.90 or so.

It would take off a few ticks, and if you added a sticky tire your looking at low 11's high 10's.

I believe I read the new z06 has the same gear ratios as the standard c6. I have a c5 z06 and they are geared lower in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 4th is still 1to 1 .
