I have the 18" BFG DRs and they hook ridiculously. I can come out of the hole at half-throttle, then mash it and have awesome traction on dry cement. I heated em up once on the street and was able to launch nearly to the floor with little wheelspin.
This is on the Vette, btw.

My best 60' on 18" BFG's - 1.58 (390rwhp A4 car)
My best so far on 17" MT's - 1.64 (380rwhp M6 car)
MT's seem to hook harder on the street, but I have to admit...I like the looks and 18" size of the BFG's.

Thanks for the info. I purchaced a set of BFG drag radials when they first came out many years ago and they only lasted about 2-3k miles plus they were like a full slick in the rain. After that I always ran Nittos better wet traction and longer thread wear.

Well with the OEM tires in back, and mine have less than 1,000 miles, the car will kick out if I take corners too hot and try to stay in it. I would think that Nitto DR's would not make that worse... No?
I did not see a link for 295 Nitto DR's anywere.

You have 2 options to go with, the 305-35-18 555R ($277 ea.) which is the drag radial. Also there's the 555RII ($314 ea.) which is going to provide you with the same traction as the drag radial but it also has a stiffer sidewall for maximum control and handling / roadracing. My last pair lasted me around 15k miles as well.

The Nitto 315 NT-O1's are the best over-all dry adhering street tire out there.
12.3" track width.
Nitto RII's are close second.
Drag Radials just plain SUCK for anything lateral.
I know someone that is taking BFG drags off his Z06.
However, A CCW Corvette Drag Package, 16"x10" rear, 15"x3" front. with ET Drag Radials are good for straight line street perfomance and for taking space in the garage when not in use, but thats about it.
P.S. NEVER mix tires.

It sounds like you would be happier going with the R2s which have the same soft compound but stiffer sidewall.
