Default is anyone here into older vettes?????

i have a friend's dad who has been storing a 1969 convertable vette for the last 30 years.as i grew up i had visions of owning the car but his dad was hardcore on not selling it.well my friend called me the other day and his dad has finally caved.the car definately needs body work as it has been a storage cabinet for 30+years. the car is an original big block (427)original automatic car(so he claims.) i'm not a diehard of these cars but i thought all older big block vettes were four speeds.anyways, all the interior is original and the car has 36k original miles.what do you think this car is worth completed? is it as rare as he claims it is? any views/advice or direction will be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what horse power it is,plus yes they had automatics in the big block too.Big block cars always bring more and chrome bumper cars raise the price too and it being a vert.Any pics of it.

They can be lots of fun, have a 72 coupe with a 350. bought it with low miles. Have had to spend some time freshening things like suspension , ( the rubber dries out) brakes and replacing some lines. after that they are fun to drive around, always get lots of attention , the big blocks were a bit more nose heavy so handling is off a bit. There are good sources for almost all the parts. and a good base of knowledge on how to keep em running well

That very much depends. Looks like the 69s are going anywhere from $10K to over $100K restored with matching numbers. Have it professionally appraised and don't rely on the web.

Default 72 Coupe

I've got a 72 Coupe that I'm putting togeather. I have a 2000 FRC that I play with (420 RWHP).

It's not too rare, but that dowsent mean that it's not worth money. Before I started to "restore" it I'd look into it being a survivor. It would be worth alot more.

Like mentioned before it depends on the horsepower of the 427. They had 4 different engine packages for the 427 in 1969. There was the q-jet 427 rated at 390 hp. A Tripower setup rated at 400 hp. The L88 which is a rare car only around 120 made in 69 had 430 hp. Then there was the high end Tripower setup with 435 hp this one had aluminum heads. Your most desirables go L88 430 hp, Tripower 435 hp, Tripower 400 hp and then the Q-jet one with 390 hp. The high Tripower cars go from 35,000 on up depending on condition and the 390 hp q-jets I often see in the 20s.
