Default Paddle shifter 4l60E

Anyone ever try a paddle shifter ona 4l60E?

I was wondering about it and found someone that makes them! But is it just a novelty item or is it usable?

If anyone has any exsperiance with one please let me know your opinions.

Never seen this before, looks like it is definitely not a novelty/"for looks" item. From the write up on it, it is a usable mod. Are you considering the purchase? If so, once you get it and use it, let us know how well it works! Good luck

I asked about it a few weeks back. Looked like you have to toss the airbad out the window for most of the setups.

The Shrifter™ accepts popular aftermarket steering wheels and fits a wide range of factory and aftermarket non-airbag steering columns without modification. It does NOT work with airbag steering wheels and should never be used in street driven vehicles that came equipped with airbags from the factory. Combined with a modern electronic transmission and controller, the Shrifter™ adds performance and style to your hot rod.

Well, it sounded like a good idea, but I am not going give up aig bag to do it.

When i refered to it as a "novelty" item, i did not mean to insult the product. But if t shifted the trans the same as if you were manualy shifting it, you would probably over rev on hard pulls if you did not get your timeing exactly right. But if it was a quick shift , it could be alot of fun.

Anyone else know of anyone doing something like this , while still retaining your air bag?

Thanks for the responses, and any more are very welcome.

My boss is the owner of the company...(twistmachine)

shift times are programmable, as well as the shift speed. I have played with this system a little. it is awkward. Can be changed from standard automatic to paddle-shift at any time at the flip of a switch. They are indeed functional, it ran with some of the tweaked manual cars at our autocross.

I am pretty sure that the Airbag has gotta go. But ask Steevo yourself if you have questions.

If you want more info go to http://www.musclerides.com/forum2/ and PM Steevo who is the owner of twistmachine. He will be happy to answer questions.
