Z06 or Convertible for a DD
I'm thinking about buying a corvette(01+ c5), but if I do, it would be my daily driver for 7-8months out of the year so it will see rain. I really don't like the look of targa-top cars so I've narrowed my search to convertibles or z06s. As much as I'd like the top-of-the-line z06 I certainly don't NEED it. My question is will the top wear out on the convertible within a few years of daily driver abuse? and if it doesn't wear out will it begin to leak? Also, how is the road/wind noise compare between the two(top up on the vert)? Thanks alot!

My $02 is the Z06; a gentle car that can be daily driven with outstanding manners (and great highway gas mileage too!!!) but you can put your foot into her, and she'll put a smile on your face that lasts! Honestly, the good news is that you'll love either car, one's just a lot quicker outta the box. Good luck on your choice.

I would go with the Convertable. If you like the Z06 look, you can add the aftermarket hardtop and have basically the same roof line as the Z. And as for HP, a decent H/C will supply ample power.

Personally, I think the Z06 is too much for daily driver, get the convertible and hardtop option and you'll have the best of both worlds.
The Z06's tranny ratios are not great for regular street driving in my opinion, that's why I would go with the vert.
