As always, power levels are not the determining factor in race outcome involving traction-limited manual tranny cars. It's the driving the counts.

got next to one at the track a couple weeks ago. 1st run, I started spraying in 2nd (A4) and he ate me alive. Second run, I shot at the top of 1st, he still ate me... and he even hit his rev limiter half way down the track.

good flippin luck.

ohhhhh....I dunno man. drivers race for sure. Given the same drivers,...it'll be neck and neck for two gears,...third, the Z06 wil start to pull about half a car,...4th, he might end up with you on the bumper. As lond as your not both blowing off the tires.

Then again,..your makeing quite a bit of torque soo, it's possible I could very easily eat my words. Whats your viper way in at roughly?

99 rt10..3380 acording to the mags and registration..with my spare and jack removed 3360..With the hard top removed 3330 ( hard top removed is good for the 1/4 mile but BAD for anything past 130 mph..

So ill be running him at a vehicle weight of 3360 plus my 220 pounds of flubber for a combined weight of 3580 pounds..

I beleave his 2007 c6z06 weighs 3180...And then he's a 280 pound body builder..scary HUGE..For a combined weight of 3460..

He's had a few different mustangs that I have killed with ease..So now he's trying to return the favor LOL...

I'm thinkin zo6 as well just because they are so lightweight. Anyone know what a stock c6 zo6 puts to the wheels?

Varies from dyno to dyno and Z to Z...on average we see 440-460RWHP. Not bad for a stocker...!

Because of power to weight, all else being equal (drivers), the Z will probably take the win.

With some minor "tweeking" running stock exhaust, I'm at 484.4 RWHP and 452.8 RWTQ. This is one Bad *** factory car...

extremely fantastic stocker...especially for the price..75K and 450 rwhp and 3150 pounds is no joke...Basically a NSX with a SC and shot of nos on top LOL...

I didnt care to much for the interior though..Pretty boring and the materials seemed a bit cheaper than the ones in my 04C5...But if I really cared about that I wouyld be dring a mercedes LOL..

The upgraded interior was pretty much why I traded my '04 in for me '06.lol
The arm rest was the only thing that I felt I really "needed" to upgrade.

The C6Z06 interior felt really really skimpy compared to my 2004 C5..That leather felt pretty plush..I remembe pushing against the doors numerous times and feeling how fat the leather was...

The C6Z06 leather felt like it ws a 1/4 inch worth of leather at most on the doors..Hard to the touch and not plush at all..But is this possible C6Z06 specific weight savings?

The tuning will help with the HP gain, but I would not expect the gains from the flywheel to help much during a race. The gains that come from a lightweight flywheel are just due to less rotating inertia. The actually do not have any really HP gains for an engine, but due to less inertia will help it rev quicker. The only reason people see gains is because of how a rear wheel dyno measures power.

Having owned an 01 & an 04 Z06... and now an 07 Z06,

there is a significant improvement in the C-6 Z06...

including the interior fit & finish !!!

Agreed! I took a C6Z in my C5Z pretty hard off the line and he didn't start to pull until 100+....Its all about your tires and your driver!!! Of course power plays a big part WHEN you get traction.....

Sorry, but the c6 Z06 will smoke ya. No replacement for displacement. You may be even until about 100 mph, then forget about. Those cubes kick in and its all over. Add to it a simple tune, headers and a port job on the intake and look out. Also the gearing is going to get you too if all the above isn't bad enough.

The preceding was a personal experience riding to Vero Beach with several friends who have c6 Z's.

Cheers

You do realize that the Viper has more displacement and more cubes than the Vette, right?
