C6 or C5 Z06
Not sure which one to buy. I would LOVE to get a C6 but they are still 40K+
How are they performance wise from each other (granted the c6 is a ls2).
Just not sure which one to get..

A C5 Z06 is faster than a C6 even though it has the LS6 as oppose to the LS2. Think about it like this, buy a C5 and with the money that you save, you can put performance parts on the car. Five or six thousand in parts and you will be able to outrun even a new Z06!

I have a bone stock C5Z and a buddy of mine has a C6 with a tune and fast intake. He outtrapped me by 1Mph so, I would think that the C5Z is a hair faster (I think the C5Z is a little lighter). For the save in cost, Id go with the C5Z tho if both were the same price, it be hard not to move to the C6. I think your looking at at least 10k in difference of price on avg.

They are pretty close in performance with the edge to the C5Z usually. The C6 is a much more refined car, so if luxury is any part of the aim (radio, comfort, noise, etc.)...C6 is substantially better.
$40K +???? Not sure where you are seeing those prices, but for $40K, you can have mine with both sets of wheels and Lingenfelter H/C/FAST and a ton more stuff putting down 470rwhp (30K miles).
If you want a stocker, you can buy an '05 and in some cases, '06 for $32-36K off the Corvette forum.

I was looking and could not find any C6's for under 38.

No, I'm with you. There are a ton under $38K. Like I said, I'm probably going to put mine up in that price range ($38-40K) with all the mods and both sets of wheels.
There are at least 5-10 '05-'06s lower mileage for under $38K over on Corvette Forum right now. And these aren't base C6s, they are like mine, loaded with everything but navigation.
You can definitely get a nice car under $38K with 20K miles or less.
If you really want one, plenty to be had in that price range. There are several '05s (base models if that matters) for $33-35K on CF, and more loaded models for $34-38K.

For the OP, you should easily be able to find a used C6 in the mid-low 30's at this point. Heck, you can buy a brand new 2007 1LT C6 for $39.9K. Sure, it's base, but it's new and a Vette for under 40K.

Go over to Corvette Forum and check out the C6 for sale section. Several dealers just posted up 0% 60mos and GMS pricing on '06s, and GMS on '07s for everybody!!
There are some deals to be had, used or new.

Bone stock a C6 M6 is a high 12 second car, decent mph. A C5Z is a low 12 second car with slightly better mph. If you do some pcm tuning, and an airbox on both, the C6 is a mid to low 12 second car and the C5Z is an 11 second car.
For <$30K, the C5Z is an awesome value. Everytime I drive mine I tell myself I will never sell it. Then I look at C6Z's and try to rationalize the change... and can't.

I'm betting on 0% interest and possibly rebates on vettes this fall.

in fact, with the real possibility of a rebate combined with 0% I may look into upgrading this fall.
be patient and don't be to eager to pull the trigger, cause there is always a better deal just around the corner.
