Those of you that came from higher HP F-bodies... (C5's only please)
I'm looking at selling my car and substituting it with a white FRC C5. The only problem is I have kind of an emotional tie, and I simply love my car. For those of you that came from higher HP F-bods to stockish C5's, was it worth it? Do you regret losing the F-body? Its going to be hard to let my car go, so I just want to know if its worth it, and if so... why? Thanks for any input!

I switched from a 99 TA in 2002. I liked the TA a lot, quite a fun and capable car. If you don't need the back seat and want a lighter, more nimble and better handling car, get the vette. Looks is subjective but more like the vette better.

I could not have sacrificed our Camaro for my Corvette. That is just the way it is... Luckily we were able to keep both.
I will say that if it was a choice though I would not get rid of the SS for the Z06. While they are two totally different cars, I could not have made the sacrifice. Besides my wife would have killed me. The truth is she got me to buy the Z06 to get me out of her SS... hahah...

I went from a 2000 F-bod to a '99 FRC and hated it at first. I went from killing everything to losing all the time. After I started modding and I saw the advantage of having a lighter, stiffer vehicle with wayyyyy better handling, I became much more happy with the move.
Plus the vette looks much better in valet than a mullet anyways.

Same thing for me I went from 2000 Montery Maroon Z28 with some mods, to a 99 A4 C5. It felt like a slug driving lol especially with the A4. I actuall put the C5 up for sale to get another Camaro. Then after much thought I said screw it. Added H/C Headers , gears and a stall. After that I was in love with that car. There are times where I wish I had more then 2 seats, the vette stock got more looks then the camaro did and I thought it looked pretty good IMO with teh wheels I had. After a while I traded my A4 for a M6 and added a procharger. It moved good enough lol. Something about the Camaro was always in my mind. Despite how well you think your Camaro or TA rides. If you buy the C5 then drive it for about a month hell 2 weeks. After you have not been in the F Body for a bit, jump in a friends for a drive take it around the block. THen you can't wait to get back into the C5. Of course I say this and I sold my Magnacharged Yellow C6 and bought a Camaro SS because after taxes, and missing the extra 2 seats I jsut wanted something else to beat up that wouldn't loose anymore value vs a car that has lost most of it anyway lol, and just mod the **** out of that.

i am in the same situation, thinking of selling the car because ive been offered the same price as what i paid for it 2 years ago, i drive the car like a stole it and its probably time stuff starts breaking and would hate to start stuffing more money into it cause im fixing to buy a house, so im thinkin sell the car, get my credit up a lil, better interest rate for my house, use the ss money to throw down on a vette. And have a garage to keep it it!! And I my gf's dad gave me a 89 ranger that needs a head gasket, so i could drive that while i was without a kickass ride.

I dont regret it. I wish i had room for both of them but I have too many cars as it is. My Z06 felt good when I drove it so I bought it. Stock for stock theres nothing like it.

Dude.... I had a Twin Turbo Firehawk with a fully polished engine....
You'll get over it soon enough..
I'm perfectly happy with my near stock Zo6. It's a much better experience overall. This time around I'm doing a large cube motor..

I just got out of a supercharged WS6 for my Z06. I'm totally happy with my decision. I'll always love Trans Ams but I don't think I'll ever go back now that I know the pleasures of a Vette.

I also have both my 00 SS and my 01 Z06.
Honestly For the Z I got my hands on I would have gotten rid of my Camaro without a thought. It was already modded and was faster than my Camaro from the start.
If I had to go from modded to stock, I might just do it. The vette is alot more fun to drive than the Camaro. The Camaro's ride was more rigid, un comfortable and annoying to drive after a awhile. The Vette on the other hand, is alot better on gas (even modded) the ride is comfortable, and its just overall fun to drive.
The vette can be driven Daily as the Camaro isnt the best suitable car for that.

There is another thread on this forum floating around with the same idea.
I had a 1994 z28 (LT1) M6 with mild mods and tuning (275rwhp/285tq)
My 1997 C5 Z51 is a totally different car. Even before mods the car felt smoother and easier to drive hard. Brakes are phenominal and confidence inspiring, cornering is great and high speeds aren't nearly as scary as in a fbody (windows popping out mean anything to anyone?). Add in the better fuel economy, better handing (even in the winter due to traction control and good 50/50 weight balance) and the C5 is my pick for sure....but only if you like driving

I had a 12.5 Sunset orange Formula and for the first couple of weks I was great. I did not miss my bird until my first race with a TA and lost. Then i remembered all the times I beat up on Vettes. But now that the slow procees of mod the Vette is taking place I really love my car. I don't think you will reget it because you will get back were you were in less time. There is more modding to be done on a Fbody.
