Default c5 shock debate. Bil. HD or Sport?

I am going to be ordering a set of front and rear shocks for my 00 c5 vette. I am looking at bilstein and the heavy duty are the same price as the sport. Just would like to know what the difference is. What would you guys go with? Looking for a sweet handling ride. The closer to the zo6 the better! Love corners and respondsive handling so please help.

thanks,
Jeff

I looked at them as well. Any opinions on what is better? they are all about the same price and it seems more ppl go with bilstein. They are direct replacement. I would just like to hear some feedback.

The C6 Z06 shocks are supposedly superior, which is why I got them. (much cheaper too). I just put them on. My ride doesn't seem to be noticeably harsh ('er) however the car hugs the road SOOOOO much better. It doesn't "float" when going over the roller-coaster like overpasses at triple digit speeds. I've had them on for 4 days and it hasn't "settled down" yet so the car still has the 4x4 look.

I have the heavy duties and love them. My car dropped a little with them too. Maybe 1/2 inch. They handle well but are super stiff.

My car is lowered on the stock bolts. I went from F45 shocks to Bilstein Sport shocks. This is my opinion, and only my opinion, but

NOW my car feels like a Corvette should. Firm and sharp, but not too harsh. Responsive instead of sluggish. I spent almost 24 hours straight in my car after pickup and I enjoyed every second of it.

Actually they're not superior, the C6's are lighter so if you really want to get technical the C6Z's shocks are the not best choice. The '04's are really the best since they're valved for an actual C5. However you probably wouldn't notice much difference between the two.

I'd take a look at the 04 Z06 shocks. I have them and really like them. It was a nice improvement over my stock Z51 shocks.

Well i ordered the bilstein Sport shocks and they will be here on Saturday! I figured i would just throw it in since i have the brakes off the car and the rear diff out and tranny out. Its easier this way. I rebuilt the tranny..(completely beefed it up), rebuilt my stock calipers and repainted them red with silver corvette, new fuel filter and new sport shocks. Next are the new wheels and tires.

This car is my hobby if you cant tell. Someday it will be perfect and then someone will have to scratch it and i will have to hurt them! haha

Sports are great and offer better performance than HD. Sports are better than the C6 Z06 shock, I tired them.

Hey thanks guys. Im glad that I can count on you for decisions Id rather not make alone. They arrived today and will go on this week when i install my transmission. The car handled great with the OEM shocks but i figured 72xxx miles worth was enough and i had the car apart, I might as well do it now instead of deal with it later. I paid $272.00 for all 4. I shopped around and found a pretty good deal. Ebay had them for 299 a set. I couldnt pass it up!
