That's cookin pretty good in this heat.

Did you try removing the fuse so the butterflies are open at launch? Is yours a Z51 automatic? Reason I ask is to see if you have the 220 tread wear tires or the 300?

I'm going to take mine out tonight and see if I can run better than a 13! LOL! I have the base lLT with the 300 tread wear. Might have a traction problem but mph should give some potential indication.

This car is a A6 2.56 300 tw tires with the 3LT package. It was consistently around 200 deg. during the runs. I had 9 passes worst being 12.63 @ 113.6. It did not have the NPP exhaust. Tires seemed to hook better at 23 psi and I got better e.t.'s when launching off of stall (1400). Flashing would only result in a good amount of wheel spin. Reality the 60 ft wouldn't change just my et. I really hope you get to run your car tonight. I only had 517 miles on the clock. I literally felt more power with every run. Some were flat out hot laps and each one quicker. These cars can take a beating.

Looks like we have the same tires. Hopefully HRP will be prepped well. I do have the NPP and 2.73 gear but it's going to be warmer than 83*, I think you mention. Probably closer to 90* on my first pass. Gear might hurt me if I can't get traction. I'll have to give a report when I get back tonight. Hopefully it won't be too crowded and I can get several passes in. Thanks for the info!

So the 08s are basically just about a dead heat with the C5Z06s.

Nice.

Time will tell. Regardless the LS3 is a serious engine.

haha...very true. As soon as GM said they were coming out with it I had to order full exhaust, CAI and get a nice tune just so I could keep up.

I'm happy for the people that waited until '08 to pick up their C6 but to be perfectly honest I feel a bit robbed. I cant believe the LS2 only lasted 3 years where as the LS1 lasted 9 years. The only thing I can do now is keep modding.lol

My results are in. Not as good as you! Best I could muster up was a 12.564 @ 112.98 mph. And this is with my 2.73 and had the fuse pulled opening the butterflies at launch. Don't know how you did it in this heat. My car thermometer read 90* on the first pass and 87* on the second. I believe you said 83*. Not much difference there. Did you do something to cool the intake. I was reading 109* IAT on my coolest pass after letting it cool for over an hour with hood open. Timing advance at launch was as low as 18*. Up to 24* by the lights at 97* IAT. This 160 tstat isn't doing much for me without setting the fan to run faster at a lower temp. I saw up to 203* engine temp.

With this tight converter and TM it took me 1.968 seconds to get from launch to peak torque of 4400 rpm. Lot of wasted time.

Traction was good. No detectable problem there. 3360# race weight.

Track was so crowded all I got was two passes. Might mention the first pass was a 12.80 @ 113.16 mph. IAT was 131* on that pass. Max. timing I recorded that pass was 22.5*. 16-18* or so at launch.

Congratulation Larry! I was definately cooling the intake. Two bags across the intake bridge during cool downs, I also didn't have to wait in line, cause the track was basically open for me to do my runs. Great timing info. What were your 60 fts?

Thoise are some good times with more to be had. Would like to see what the cars can do with some traction and cooler temps. The 08 vettes should be close to the C5 Z06's in times and speed wise.

Thanks for the kind words.

Icing the intake and not having to wait idling is going to greatly help ET with these cars. With stock tuning IAT temp is really a factor. Right now I don't know how much of the IAT timing retard can be removed without getting knock retard. I have some testing to do. I'm sure some can go. Maybe just zero the table and see what happens!

My 60' was a 2.010. Really can't believe it was that good considering the heat, my IAT temp and this TM.

TM is another issue for both of us. As I was brake stalling at the line around 1100 rpm advance was reading 31*. Immediately when I punched it to 100% throttle position the timing went negative to around -2* and slowly rose to 20* taking .656 seconds. That 16-18 was a little farther out. I thought maybe the negative numbers were bogus but maybe not so. More than 1/2 second into the pass before the engine is making decent hp. We know how much a tenth in 60' equals to 1/4 mile et. At each shift advance drops into the negative advance range.

To reach our peak torque of 4400 rpm it took 1.969 seconds from launch. With the right converter and eliminated TM that should happen within a couple tenths or less.

Did your car shift into 4th during the run, Based on some calculations the 2.73 was supposed to shift into 4th but nobody has tested the theory. I think you will have to agree with me that these cars with traction, more miles and seat time they will see 11's by winter, and quite possibly without a tune.

I had 418 miles on the car when I arrived at the track last night.

On the first pass in D the tranny stayed in 3rd all the way just past the lights when I let up. On the second pass in S it tried to shift to 4th just before the lights. Probably why the lesser mph. Shifts are really lazy on this car. For some reason my mph in my log read 116 mph on the last frame, on the first pass and 117. I let up at or just past the lights. Don't know why my log reads so much more mph than the time slip. The program has the 3-4 shift at 99 mph. Apparently rpm is governing at 6300.

Larry, this is Ponchorello from the corvette forum. I own the blue lemans c6....i was supposed to make it out last night but had to change my plans.

If you want some clean runs, you should try on sunday. Its usually pretty dead and you can get 10+ runs in if you wanted.

I will be there tomorrow to get some runs in.

Sorry you couldn't make it. I did look for you!

Sundays is better but this Sunday and today I believe they are having the Junior Dragester races. They are what took so long last night.

Damn...I havent check the HRP website. Looks like i wont be going then.

A little more seat time will net lower times plus it was pretty hot/humid last night.
