Question Extra premium

Hey everyone in the Vette section, I was wondering how much do you think a 99 C5 Coupe, with all the options and less than 10k miles is worth? Excellent KBB says $19.5
I just want a personal and professional opinions. Low miles or not the car is almost 10 years old and for 10k more can have a C6...Thanks!

Yeah like a guy with a '99 having less than 10k miles is going to dump his 'Vette for some tire-kicker at $16 or $18..... or even $20!

Get real, it doesn't matter if the car is 20 years old! If it's mint and has less than 10k miles that owner can ask up to $24 easy (and he WILL get it)

I've probably sold close to 100 C5's alone in the last year and a half. He will not dump that car for less than low 20's unless he's in financial trouble and has zero time.

$16~$18k Hell, dealers would pay $18 easy for it at auction! And then add their transport/advertising/refresh/misc repair/(profit) -They'd sell that same car for $24,900 and maybe take $23.5k plus on top of that you'd pay sales tax, tag, title, etc.

Then get a C6 if you like them....

If you thought electrical issues were a problem on C5's ...... wait until the C6's get up into the 60k mile/ 5 year old range.

Figure it out...

I'm with Joshua on this one. Market numbers be damned, a low mileage vette always commands a premium.

That is an assumption you have no way of backing up. So why bother even making it? And you know what they say about assumptions.

If you think he's going to get over "excellent" KBB value in this economy, you're dreaming. I have a low mileage C6, but that sure hasn't stopped its value from tanking.

Nothing is worth more than someone is willing to pay. Sure, he may find someone who would pay ~$24K, but good luck with that.

I also agree that a low mileage great condition vette will bring much more than what KBB will state. I would say that is could go for the $22K to $24K range depending on the buyer.

KBB hates Corvettes, I never even look at their guidelines when it comes to C5's.

Guy on the Corvette forum just bought a 91 ZR1 with 33k miles, mint. KBB said $12.5K. But they're accurate.

Wait a minute... Where are you going to find a decent C6 for 25k....

A 98 C5 10k miles , yea I can see 20k for that...

My uncle sold an 04 with 3500 miles for 40k about 6 months ago... that was over priced but someone paid it

I like your thinking. I'll make an offer and be assertive. The Vette market is limited but still plenty of options out there.

I personally use NADA when shopping both new and used just to get an idea. But neither KBB nor NADA list all of the available options and their values online. This is where Carmax can eat it because they'll price a loaded coupe the same as a base model. Don't ever take your vehicle to Carmax unless your life depends on it. The actual NADA book shows not only the base value and adjustments, it also has adjustments for all of the available options. That's the guide to use, IMO, not the online quotes. I like the online quotes for new cars because they list the dealer invoice numbers, and I always take those printouts when shopping new.

Here's your low mileage 1999 C5:

1999 C5 Coupe 9500 Miles (NADA)

And the ZR1 mentioned above:

1991 Corvette ZR1 31000 miles (NADA)

That ZR1 is worth a bit more than ~$13K. NADA has it from $18-25K.

And where do you see ~$13K on KBB, FastBird93? It's also in the $22-25K range (excellent condition - private party):

1991 ZR1 31000 miles (KBB)

Retail is what you'd pay a dealer, not a private party. And this isn't rare like a ZR1 or a collector's edition Z06, so the liklihood of someone paying a premium for it is slim.

But there's a sucker born every minute. How else did Bill Heard Enterprises get away with tens of thousands of dollars in "market adjustment" for their Vettes?

Incidentally, my C6 is currently valued at ~$42K with the options and mileage (paid ~$53K, stickered at ~$58K). I'd be extremely lucky to get $36-38K for it. Carmax offered $31K.

Thanks for your input, facts are facts! The ZR1 is definitely one of a kind with the hand build LT5 motor.
I'll have the KBB print out available when I go to inspect and drive her.
