Switched from th400 to T56...made some test runs
The local dragstrip here is horrible. It takes forever to get runs in and I just dont have time to get out there much. I swapped out the Th400 w/ a 3800 stall for a T56 with a textralia clutch and changed the gearing from 4.11 back to 3.70 (hoping to run FI in the near future)
Anyways, my Th400 times were as follows...
28" ET Drags: 10.4 @ 130 1.44 60'
26" Drag Radials: 11.0 @ 120 1.6 60'
T56 times...
26" Drag Radials 11.8 @ 124 2.0 60'
I am going to try to get some 28" slick times this weekend.
I must say the th400 and t56 are two completely different animals!! I wasnt able to get the drag radials to hook, its probably 90% my lack of experience with a 10 second capable car on drag radials and 10% track conditions sucked.
Most of my mphs with the t56 on drag radials has been around 119-121 but somehow I clocked that 124. I was a shifting maniac on that run!! I havent powershifted it yet bc the tranny is stock but soon I may just go for it.
Just thought you guys might wanna see how the runs with the two trannies compare with the same setup. I still think if I can get the car to hook on the drag radials and shift like crazy it is possible to get a high 10. Ill find out soon about the 28" slicks!
Overall...the T56 is so much more fun! I may not be consistent and it may be harder to drive but it has put a challenge back in driving the car! Before it was dead nuts the same times over and over with the th400. Now I have something to improve on!!

No nitrous...
The motor is very strong. With the th400 setup it would run consistent 127-128 trap speeds and generally in the 10.55-10.65 range in decent conditions. The 10.4@130 was a cold cold night with excellent track prep. I was able to get 2 runs in the 10.4 range that night and another at 10.5. all trap speeds were 129-130. Its amazing what good track prep and weather can do.
There really is a difference in 26" drag radials on a 17" rim and 28" et drags on a 15" rim.
I guess I should have mentioned the drag radials are 17s and the slicks are on 15s

Ouch,
so you are down 6mph from you previous best on a 28" slick and a TH400 setup? That's definately an uphill climb. Add to it the almost full second gap, and it does really show where the TH400 is stretching its legs, haha.
All that REALLY matters: you are having more fun! Congrats on the new swap regardless of ETs.

Yea I may be slower but its so much more fun now.
I ran it Sunday on 28" slicks....disappointing, I was only able to make 2 passes in the 4 hours I was there. (Hence the reason I dont go to the track much anymore and the reasoning for the 6speed in the first place!)
First pass...I launched at 4k. Bogged like hell, and forgot to take the cover off the shift light...opps
Second pass...6k launch. Bogged like hell again, and just took it easy the rest of the way down the track.
Ended up cutting a 1.80 60' on the first pass and a 1.63 60' on the second pass. Definately slower than what I was hoping.
I guess the car really does need those 4.11s back but its gonna keep those 3.70s. Looks like nitrous will just have to be in the future.
I did get to run a 383 lt1 with a th400 on slicks! He got me off the line hard but I was about to get around him after the 1/8
Good times!

So what was your mph with the slicks??? I took mine out a month or so ago and it was dismal. I wanted to see if I could hit a 10.xx pass in street trim (full interior) with 315-35-17 drag radials. It didn't work out so well. The 'DA was 3000' and all I could muster was a 12.04@123.76 with a 2.2 60' and a 11.91@122.45 with a 1.98 60'. I bought a set of Et Drags which are 26.5" but haven't had a chance to try them out. I am running 4.10's in the rear so I hope it doesn't bog.
