Default Do I have the slowest f-body around?

So I went to a real drap strip for the first time in a couple years and needless to say I left felling really disappointed. The best I could get the TA to was 14.04@102. My rt was .197, 60' 2.137, 1/8 9.158@81.655. Of course the driver could use alot more practice, but I felt like a had the slowest f-body around lol. Im running 4.11 rear gear, with 315/35r17 kuhmo XS(supposedly a roadrace/street tire). I had the tires at 28psi, preformed a good burnout and attemped to launch the car. Well while fighting traction in first gear, then at about 5000 rpm in second gear the tires would rip loose again. And I am running roadrace springs with koni SA's and bigger bars, so im sure that the lack of wieght distibution was't helping and that some DR's would really help, but is the altitute making it seem that slow. Anyways, this is my first post, but Ive been reading this forum for a couple years and it has been increadibly helpfull.

Sounds to me like it was just wheel spin problems. If your rear tires are spinning that you wont go anywhere. Sometimes on street tires you have to slip the clutch through first to keep them spinning.

When I launched the car, I would slip the clutch almost all the way through first gear to keep the car moving forward and attemp to keep tire spin to a minimum, maybe i was just making it worse? A 14.04 time made me feel slow as hell

your elevation is around 4500ft that hurts you (mine is 4000 and it sucks).... alot of guys with great numbers on here are at 1000ft or less...

This summer during Hot August nights, Dynomax had a dyno at summit racing so I decided to put the car on to see what would happen, and 315 was all it would muster.

Oh ok, well i think one reason your not running like you want to is the heat. Im down here in orlando, FL and i would run 13.1 all the time, then when the temp hit 38 degrees I hit a 12.8@108 and I have an A4. It weird how the temp has something to do with it...

dont feel bad, my first 2 runs with my 04 C5 auto vette that was stock ran 13.9 @ 102. But I was able to get it down to 13.5 @ 105 by the third run. You just need practice, and to fix traction probs. Let it cool between runs, and I would go to about 22psi. Thats how I cut my times.

Sometimes no matter what you do to the car even if you have drag radials you wont run fast, especially if the track is not prepped well. Work on your launch, get some drag radials and see what happens.

Typically speaking, for every .1 you take off your 60' you're going to pick up .2 on the big end. So, imagine getting .4 off that 60'. Not only that but your DA is playing a Major factor in your ET and MPH. Don't try to compare yourself to someone that posts times where the DA is no where near the DA where you're at.

BTW, DA = Density Altitude
