Default First time at the track in my 02 M6 SS!

I went down to the drag strip tonight in my 02 Camaro SS M6 with bolt-ons (mods in my sig). Havent ever raced a standard down the track before so this was an interesting experience! LOL!

First Run - 14.8 @ 103 with a 2.85 60'! SCORE!
(I was literally sideways at the 60' mark! LMAO!)

2nd Run - Getting better!

R/T: .929
60': 2.24
330: 5.925
1/8: 8.862
MPH: 84.50
1000: 11.359
1/4: 13.460
MPH: 107.69

3rd Run:

R/T: .978
60': 2.095
330: 5.707
1/8: 8.652
MPH: 84.36
1000: 11.152
1/4: 13.26
MPH: 107.44

I decided to call it a night after that run. I was pretty happy with my results for my first time at the track with the car (second time ever racing a car there). I was hoping for 12's, but they'll eventually come. I was also running with Traction control off for the last 2 runs & dropped my tire pressure down to 20psi from 30psi. I was also wondering if my trap speed is somewhat high for the time... I thought 108mph would be in the 12's.

I just need to get my 60' down even father. Is a 1.7/1.8 possible on street tires (not DR's) with my set-up?

108 trap is diff. good for 12's. I ran 12.3 trapping 108. More seat time and you should get in the 12s. If you can pull a 1.9 60ft then you should have it. Pick up some lca's and dr's;

Not bad at all for your first time out there with an M6. Work on your launch and a 1.9 60' shouldn't be too difficult (play with the tire pressure a bit a couple pounds at a time and make sure you do a quick spin to clean off the tires before the run). 1.8's are not impossible depending on the tire you're running, but definitely not something most people ever accomplish. Most just move on to drag radials before hitting the track enough on the right street tires to figure it out.

Is your car tuned? You might pick up a little bit from that. And there are a few small mods left to give you a little extra. Throw a cold air and possibly a ported throttle body on it, a pulley, any little thing you can to pickup some extra top end. A 1.9 60' alone with the rest of the slip looking the same should put you right around a 13 flat. If you can pickup a little bit on the top end or really nail that launch and your shifts, there's no reason the car won't hit a 12 as it sits. It's all about seat time. You're doing fine for this being your first time out there in the car.

By the way, this is all assuming you're looking to hit that 12 on street tires. If your only goal is the 12-second slip, a set of Nittos on your current setup will be more than enough. 1.7-1.8 60's are the norm depending on your driving, suspension, and power, but slap a set of those on without changing a thing and those slips will read 12's.
