Default First time at the track

I went to the local track yesterday for the first time with my car. It was the first time at the track with a 6 speed car. My car is a 2002 Camaro SS LE stock with exception of K&N, UMI SFC and PRO 5.0.

There is a lot left in the car, my 60 foot is terrible, was playing with tire pressure and launch techniques and battling the hydrallic issues. It was awesome no one was there so you could pretty much hot lap as much as you wanted to. It seemed like 26 psi was working good, very small burnout would help but was having all kinds of hydrallic issues with the clutch, prob try the drill mod, if that doesnt help prob go to the tick, (could also be pressure plate though, will be doing some more research,) clutch stick to floor, not fun. I would pretty much do it every time after going to 4th if i did a burnout it would do it going to 3rd and would not shift.

My buddy went with his TBSS ended up doing 13.8s and the friend with a 2000 mustang went 13.9s. At the end we started doing some dial times, was lots of fun.

Best run

13.458 @107.01
60' 2.226
330' 5.884
1/8 8.841 @83.35
1000' 11.349

This run was toward then end of the night and followed with a 13.467 @107.61 w/2.253 60' and 13.470 @108.18 with a 2.273 60'.

Best MPH 108.18

Lots of runs and consistantly got better, was battling the clutch issues as I had said most the night, still lot to learn and room for improvement esp with the terrible 60' times.

You definitely have a strong running car. Get those 60' times down and you'll be real close to the 12s in good air.

Well thanks guys, I dont know what it could run for sure, but I know it could do better than that. With some practice I can get the 60' down quite a bit even with the street tires. DR would be awesome but then it will worry me with the 10 bolt, (even street tires kind of worries me.) I raced a mustang there that was about the same MPH or a little less and he ran 12.80, but had DR. Overall for my first time at the track I was happy with what I ran.

Any tips for what worked well for launching with street tires?

just launch it as hard as you can without causing the tires to break loose....it will take a few tries before you find that point ...just experiment with different rpms next time

That is pretty much what I was doing, just trying different rpm, it was hard to find the line where it hooked and didnt bog down to much vs just spinning.

It is a lot of fun . Especially when you dont have to wait real long to race . You have great mph ,but like everybody else is saying " work on the 60 ft " and youll probably come real close to the 12's Congrats on your first time !!

If you listen closely to your launch you had plenty of room for more rpm at the line cause as you got into the powerband she started to chirp a little through 1st. Get closer to your powerband at launch

I don't care how fast it is, it is damn pretty!!!
