Default First time at track....

This was my best run out of 4.((Worst run was a 14.6 with a 2.9 60ft lol) Car is a 98 Z28 M6, bone stock with the exception of lid/cut-out and street tires. Shouldn't i be getting better 60's than this? I launched it at idle but ran it as hard as i could without spinning. Even when i hit second, i'm sliding all over the place. I guess i'm just really disappointed...any advice other than getting sticky tires?

Other than sticky tires I would say practice.

Get out on a straight lonely country road and practice your launch.

You need a little spin but not much, just enough to keep the engine from bogging or the clutch from frying.

Yeah, i just wish i could at least cut some 2.0-2.1 60 fts to see how that effects my overall time. Honestly, on my street tires it seemed more slick on the track than it does on the street. I usually don't start spinning/going sideways when i'm on the street going into 2nd. It almost feels like i'm doing a stationary burnout and then grab suddenly when i shift down to 2nd

Make sure you drive around the water box,and tell the water box guy not to back you into it before you warm the tires.

They said we had to run through the water, it was the width of the lane. There is gravel everywhere at this place.

Word around the office is the density altitude at this track was a 3273, which means nothing to me.
