Default 1st time ever racing at the track

always went with my neighbor down in Gainesville, FL to race his 66 nova. finally switched from my f150 to my camaro. after only 2 weeks of driving my camaro i decided to take it down to the track.

first run nervous as hell, i was about 80% throttle. got a (13.2@105)

best pass i got was 12.9@106 and it was vs a shelby gt600 (yeah 600 haha). lost by half a car link. beat 2 modded mustang gt's big time.

im spinning alot when shifting into 2nd. not as much out of the hole. tires at 15 psi. should of done about 18psi. but my trans was having problems shifting into 3rd at WOT.

What were your 60ft times ? Your MPH is not that far off from your 1/4 times so there maybe other problems .

compression is kinda on the low side... needs some type of forced induction w/ that low of a ratio. What kind of tire are you running on?

also, was the car ever tuned w/ the listed mods?? which casting heads? specs on cam? Full weight I presume?

something else is not right here... even w/out the traction, it should be trapping more than 106 mph w/ all the listed mods.

he said the car had been tuned after he took the turbo off but its a crappy tune. idk about heads or spec on cam. i need to find out the specs on cam bad. ik its a custom turbo cam. the rear seats are taken out for good and no spare tire or jack.

u really need to find out about that tune. does it have a wide band o2 sensor so you could at least know what afr you're running at? I'm just afraid the guy pulled the turbo kit off and either left the tune the same (car would now be running way rich) or just threw a basically stock tune in (car would probably be running lean).

okay ill find out about the tune and the duration of the cam and all that good stuff. now if it were running really lean or rich like that, would it mess up the 1/4 mile times that bad??

p.s.---im installing pacesetter LT's in the next couple weeks so im gettin a tune after.

having the afr close to optimal for your set-up plays a major role in how it performs! plus, if the afr's are way off, you risk seriously hurting the motor.

A tune with your set up should do wonders.

ok thats what i was hoping to hear. should i wait till i get the LT's 1st to get the tune or just do it now?

i really dont want to hurt the motor but nor do i wanna tune it twice in one month. im pretty sure its running rich because of excessive exhaust fumes and soot on the bumper
