Default So I went to the track tonight and ran some unimpressive #'s.

Ok so I go to the track tonight get there about 2010hrs Let the car cool for about 25mins. Then I make my first run I pick the RPm's to 2,000rpm then try to feather it out but the car bogs so bad that it sounds as if it had turned off, I quickly smash the pedal and then it gets going but then I miss 2nd quickly recover and run a sorry *** 14.3@108mph my 60" was 2.7 not to mention once I smashed the pedal the car spun bad. I immediately go to the staging lane again and run this time I stall at 2,000rpm again and dump the clutch spinning very badly I pull a 2.3 60ft. and run a 13.2@111mph and when I say spinning I mean spinning bad for all runs so I sit in the stands watch other run for about an hr. and let the tire pressure go from 20lbs to 17lbs in the 275/40/17 MT et streets go to run again and stall this time at 1,500rpm thinking it would not spin as much, dump the clutch it seems to spin worse than previously before then I let off just cruise it past the line. Between my 2nd and final run I let my brother have a go at it and he ran a 13.7@XXXmph he having alot of fast cars stated that I'm spinning way to much and suggested investing in some suspension and some tire with some sidewall, which I agree. The car is a 1998 Z28 stock heads,TSP Torquer V2 cam and all boltons with a mailorder tune from TSP. The tune seems pretty good I know not as good as a dyno tune but on point. No suspension at all just MT et street and oh I forgot to mention I have the LS6 intake any opinions. my kid wanted to add the faces. KIDS

I know the car has 12's for sure just need some suspension and maybe a driver mod haha cause I admit racing in an M6 compared to auto is freakiing difficult for me. The car still has stock 3.42 gears.

Sounds good man. With your trap speed it seems like you could def get it down to low 12's with a good 60ft

Thats just your cars way of telling you not to blow your 10 bolt. I wouldnt be working too hard on getting traction with slicks and suspension until you have the money set aside for a built rear.

Good point also^^^. Step up to a little stickier tire, but not to much!

Screw it I'm going to push it as far as it will go then I'll replace it with something better when it gives.

If you have a backup car and can let that one sit when it breaks than go for it

lol have at it, just saying my buddy never made a pass down the track with his bolt on m6....made it about 5 feet before the rear took a dump on him lol. He had control arms and drag radials.

So now who has the cheapest frame mount torque arm or are tranny mount torque arms just as good?

That torque arm will shorten your 10 bolts life significantly. Start putting money aside.

are you sure it's spinning or is the clutch slippin i've never seen mt tires have that much problem. my car on street tire and bolt ons is 12.50 114, 2.0 60ft. if anything take off the front sway bar for some transfer and maybe some lower control arms. if the cars lowered you need relocator brackets for the rear control arms to get the angle right.

You need seat time! There is absolutely no reason you can't get a 1.90-2.0 60' on that tire! Most cams move your power band upward, that should help you spin less with an m6. Keep trying before you **** away a ton of dough in suspension. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my a4? 1.50 60's with bolt ons and a smaller tire!

+1 on traction = death of your 10 bolt. i decimated the 10 bolt ring gear in an lt1 car i had by trying to launch it. i managed a 1.80 60' but after smashing 2nd gear i assume it broke one tooth which lead to breaking like 5 more. have fun with it, you don't sound too concerned.

however, a friend of mine went 1.65 on a stock 120k mile 10 bolt in a 6 spd car. factory 342 and cover, etc, basically stock with a 100 shot went 11.49 @ 119. of course he can drive the wheels off anything. the car had a k&n air intake, true duals with flowmaster 40s on it and a tune. ran good. pass was made at full weight with da above 2000'.

Well I'll admit I can daily drive my car bit when it comes to racing I can't drive fo ****. Yes I know I was spinning I tried to feather it out but maybey I took to long and it bogged the hell out of the car so every run after I brought the rpms to 2000rpm and dumped the clutch and the car would fish tail even when I would hit second it would spin. So any tips for driving standard I'm open to all tips school me.

i agree more seat time, at least its just spinning and not wheel hop, my car did that bad, just will take some practice, heat up those tires real good , i just went to a big empty parking lot and worked on launching the car that helped the most
